So I got in my truck tonight after work and let it warm up for a min or two and then started home. When I went to pull out of the parking lot the trany slipped (big time) and I got a SES light. -:t

Here are the 3 codes I have and my questions is, is there something wrong here or did I just not wait for it to warm up enough. The truck has about 111,000 miles on it now.

Code: P0700
Modules: ECM, TCM
Description: Transmission Control Module (TCM) Requested MIL Illumination

Code: P0846
Modules: TCM
Description: Pressure Switch Solenoid D Circuit Stuck Open

Code: P0875
Modules: TCM
Description: Reverse Pressure Switch Circuit Malfunction

Also, the trany has been making some strange noises when it is cold and I posted before with no luck. (its hard to describe noises on the computer…)

Anyway, please help – I’m guessing it will be much cheaper to fix something small that’s wrong instead of waiting till it blows up.

Thanks in advance

The first thing I would look at is the NSBU switch on the side of the transmission. Its a relatively simple job to install it and I'd be willing to bet that is all thats is wrong with the truck.

After replacement, the codes will need to be cleared for proper operation.

I have heard that is a fairly common problem but would that account for the noises when cold?

I doubt that, but like you said, noises are hard to work with like this. Perhaps you could type out what it sounds like):h

Ha ha ha...
I just trying to get a better idea of what kind of simptoms are usualy seen when the NSBU switch goes bad... I was kinf of worried that i had bigger problems (maybe the pump).

So I was thinking about the NSUB switch…
Does it cause problems with cold weather shifting? Because it has been acting up a little (slightly slipping, and making a wining nose) when its cold for a while now but as soon as it warms up its fine.

I also noticed on the way in to work this morning that it was shifting kind of strange when I give it more throttle (like going up a hill) but that may be because I took the program off the other day when I took it in to the dealer at the beginning of the week.

But anyway - guess its time to make another order Eric...

I have a similar problem-I think - went out to move the truck this morning
-2001 Chevy HD- and got no response from Reverse, 1 or 2. Drive is slipping but truck will get up to speed, slowly. Big clunking noise when I shift into Drive from any other gear. It's 35 degrees this morning ...warmed it up and
still no fix. Drove fine a couple of days ago, been parked since.
any ideas? Help!

i had the same problem and changed the nsbu but it ended up being the pressure switch in the valve body. Take it to GM and have them hook it up to the tech 2 and command the shifts if it doesnt shift thats your problem.

guys, it is not that bad (yet) it only slipps a little and makes some noise when its cold. Once it wams up its fine.
But i kind of have a feeling thats is some thing like a pressure switch...

yellowroket, if you dont mind how much was it to replace the pressure switch?

Thanks

mine had code p0872 trans pressure switch solenoid E stuck closed. The bill was valve assembly $23.32, trans fluid $30.00, and labor $100.00
Total $153.32

Be careful cause once mine started it just got progressively worse to the point it was locking in the low gears and almost stranding me. Hope this helps

Yellowroket, did you have a shop do that repair?

More trouble....

So after the last time it through codes I ordered a NSBU switch (its not here yet) and cleared the codes and all has been well untill tonight... It did the same thing as last time. It sliped and then bam, and a SES light.

This time 4 codes, 2 where that same as last time and 2 new ones.
I did notice that both times have been when it was pretty cold out and when its not so cold it is much better.

so here are the codes:

P0700 - same as before

P0875 - same as before

P0732
TCM
Incorrect 2nd Gear Ratio

P0622
PCM
Generator F-Terminal Circuit

anyone have any ideas on my problem?
Please help.....

Yeah i had a gm dealer do the switch mostly because it was getting so bad i didnt even think it would have made it the 20 miles back to my house. I wish i would have just done it myself, but then again i would have had to pay a 100 bucks just for them to look at it anyways. Mine was also acting up really bad when it was cold, more so than when it was warm.

i am getting the 841, 846, and 875 codes also. so i thought it was the nsbu i replaced it and it is still doing the same thing. i went through the troubleshooter in the snap-on scanner i have it was telling me about the converter relief spring bulletin 03-07-30-11b. does anyone have any sugestions.

Make sure the transfercase is full of fluid. We had one in the shop once, acted like the trans would slip and engage, set tranny codes, really wierd. Anyway, ended up with the pin hole in the transfercase and all the fluid had leaked out over a 20k mile period with no real sign of leakage and it was actually the transfercase comming apart giving the feeling of the transmission messing up.

More than likely, not the problem, but just to be safe.

i will do that but i think it would be highly unlikely

I agree, was just one of those fluke things that I ran across in the shop, but easy check just to be sure.
