First off I am a NUUUUBBB!!

I have been on the market for a dmax for a while now, I have ran across the truck that I really like. I have done some reading and SEARCHING to find that most white smoke issues are due to faulty injectors. below is a question I posted in the wrong section describing the issue. let me know what you dieseld gurus think! BTW this is a GREAT site for info on late model Dmax, keep up the good work, I hope I can become a regular on here!!

I havent bought the truck yet, but I probably am going to. It has white smoke coming from the exhaust. After some extensive reading, it seems that more than likely it is a bad injector(s). I had the truck check by a diesel mechanic who used a computer and shut some of the injectors down and the smoke quit. Also the CEL isnt on, but he said it was giving a P0089 (fuel press reg.) and said that it maybe because of the injectors. I am new to diesels, but the trucks seems to pull and idle fine.

Does this sound like soley injectors, or could there be another problem?

your on the right path with injectors, but there could be other issues just the same. It will need to be thoroughly inspected and proper diagnosis made

What year? Whats the current mileage? If you're considering buying it seriously, post the VIN in the correct VIN check section before you buy...

already done. It is an 03 with 185k. seems like a lot of miles for a young truck, but it is in excellent shape for that many miles, hell it is in better shape than a lot of trucks with less miles. Whomever had it privously didnt pull a 5th wheel or GN. Tranny shifts smoother than some new vehicles that I have bought. Just an all around excellent truck for the dollar.

DmaxalliTECH, what other possibilities could there be that are feasable and not one in million chance?

You probably already know if you've been reading around, but luckily GM just extended the injector coverage for 2003's to 200k, which would be good. If you end up buying, the first thing I would do is take it in and get those injectors done...
