All,
I picked up a copy of Truckin magazine and they were installing a Magnaflow downpipe back exhaust with a collossal CAT of their own creation on a DMAX. I would rather not have a CAT but since I am in one of the more communist states right now I would prefer to keep it. Anyone have any experience with this exhaust? How much, etc? The magazine got tossed before I could copy down all the info. Thanks in advance for all your help.

Nut4Trucks,

The stock cat actually flows pretty well, espeically as compared to cats designed just a few years ago. I would suggest getting an MBRP or AFE system that has a bolt in cat test pipe for off road and racing use. That way you can run without when you need to and with when the law requires!! They are both usually less expensive than the Magnaflow too so you'll have money for other mods! Call us if you have any questions we'll be glad to help.

Well,
I checked out the online catalog and all the links to the install sheets are broken, so I still can't tell which one is the exhaust system that includes a high flow CAT welded to the downpipe. Any extra help from MagnaflowRep would be appreciated. Mark, thanks for the good idea about MBRP.

The part # for the d fit converter & down pipe is 60401 but you beter be sitting down when you get the price.

DoIT,
Thanks for the part number, I checked and the one for the 2006 model is 60402. $600 is killer for the downpipe. I just fiigure they would bundle it in an exhaust system providing the ability for a price break. I think I will keep my stock CAT and buy an MBRP. Thanks to all for the assistance.

The Magnaflow cat option is VERY high in price as stated. The more cost effective way is to buy a cat-back setup, then get a front-pipe to replace the cat. This way you can bolt the cat back in when need be.

Can you get just a 4"down pipe to go with my 4" Magnaflow system I already have? I have everything but the downpipe. I was told today by the guy who installed my exhaust that his vendor told him that I couldn't get a 4" downpipe unless I had an aftermarket turbo.

After further reading, I don't think I can get a downpipe for my truck without doing some modifying to my firewall and such. I may just be able to get a front pipe though. Right now I have the tail pipe, muffler, and the pipe before it. I guess the front pipe is the piece that turns up from there and goes up. Would there be any benefit to replacing that?
