Anyone know if there's a Chilton or Haynes manual for our trucks? I've looked semi-casually but haven't found one.

He's right, I didn't see a manual listed for the GMC. It does have the CD version for 300 bucks..http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Shocked.gif at this address:

I guess you could get a set of books for the Chevy. Not sure what if anything would be so different.

Looks like the 4th one down and it appears to be the Chevy one also.

Yup, it is, but you gotta have em if you expect to work on your own vehicle unfortunately. These ought to come with the vehicle when purchased new IMHO...

The CD set might be worth it... The product description seems to indicate that the set includes all service manuals from 1998 through 2004. I wonder if it includes the Duramax's...?

I have a set of the manuals for my '01 and you cannot believe the amount of info in them. These are not little wimpy Haynes manuals...no offense....but 5 volumes of 100s of pages & photos in each volume. Very detailed...almost too much stuff. The manuals have gone from $120 -> $135, but still worth it in my opinion.

Don't know if an Allison book is included (for that matter, I don't know if a Duramax book is included either!). Anyone have this set?

I have the five book set. It covers ALL trucks for that year. 1500, 1500HD, 2500, 2500HD, 3500, 3500HD. There is a specific section on the Duramax. For an extra $50 US, you could get a transmission book. I think it would have the Allison in it, but..... Mike L is selling Allison books, for $25 US. I have ordered one, but haven't heard any word yet. People seem to like the book.

Eric, do you think the 2004 manual set include the LB7 engine info? Maybe they are waiting on the LLY info before releasing the books. I think I may just order the 2003 set. It will most likely have all the info I need for my LB7 truck.

I got my GM service manual CD set from Ebay for 80$ and it covered my 2004 LB7, and had LLY info as well.
