I'm wanting to purchase a new ext cab dually, but I may have run out of time. I contacted the dealer, who did a search, and can only find 3 of these trucks on lots within about 1000 miles. None of these trucks had the options, colors, etc that I wanted. I know that it is too late to order a new '04, so here is the question: Do the dealers know what particular vehicles on the assembly line? I think this may be my only hope to getting an '04 and taking advantage of the current rebates - hoping one shows up on a lot within the next few weeks. Otherwise, I may wait until early spring of '05 when the rebates show up again.
Thanks,
Brian
BTW first choice is '04 GMC 4x4 Ext Cab Dually D/A Blue with cloth interior (if anyone sees one on a lot). I'm in WA state. ThanksEdited by: BrianB

They only know of the vehciles being built for them, not other dealers. Try a broader search on color and be flexible on options. I am going through the same thing right now.
Dually will make it tough.
I suggest you try a search for a crew cab. You won't regret it. You will probably regret it later if you get an ext cab.
Finding an EC dually is not the easiest thing to do. Not many of them are produced since the CC's seem to be what folks look for. That and duallys don't seem to be as popular as they once were for dealers to stock. That of course depends on the location and normal clientele of the dealership.
As for possible orders coming in, your only option is to call the dealers and ask if they've got anything coming that might match your wish list.
I've almost always had EC duallys, only one CC dually, and one RC dually. I test drove a CC dually since there were no EC's with a Dmax around here close when I decided I wanted a Dmax. So I had to order one. As far as getting a CC when you want an EC, there are several things to consider. One is that the CC is 12 inches longer, made for a real tight fit in my garage. Two is how often you intend to use the back seat and for what. Three is how long you intend to keep it, a CC might be easier to re-sell. Four is that 12 inches will also make a difference in the turning radius and available parking areas.
I have absolutely no regrets about having bought an EC over a CC as Max suggests might be the case. But you need to evaluate your needs and wants to see if a CC might be a better way to go. Then if you still want the EC, you probably better figure on ordering one to get exactly what you want.Edited by: Zeeb

Have you tried Dave Smith Motors? They have one of the largest selections of trucks. Do a search.

Have you tried GMC.com? Build a truck and start searching. The truck I bought showed up there before the dealer saw it (so he say's). It was enroute to a dealer 150 miles south of me. The site has changed since then but you can still search any where in the us you want.

Thanks for the replies.
I built the truck on gmc.com then checked about 25 different cities - no luck.

BTW I have a friend at Dave Smith, he said they have a black CC dually coming in (if anyone else is looking).

Still searching through gmc.com to see if any come in. I found a black one and it said that it has "Neutral/Sandstone on Denali Leather Interior Trim". What is different about this than the normal truck interior?
