Ok, I have done many searches and much reading, but I am still not sure if I can easily add H2 wheels with BFG 285/70/17 tires. Easily, meaning, I really do not want to crank up the front or do any major trimming. I’m sure a lot people have done this; what all needed to be done? Thanks!!

You should be able to install them with only minor adjusting of the torsion bars and maybe some cutting of the front clip. Should not be a big problem..

Thanks!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif I didn't want to spend the cash for the new wheels and tires, then dump more making them work.........

There is a topic here mentioning about the cranking of the t-bars. Pretty interesting.

You may want to add the green keys instead of cranking the t-bars.

Anyway you look at it I would suggest raising the front end to allow for sharp turns along with bumps if you go with the 285's.

I posted on some other topics and pics before but can't find them.

Cranking up the bars doesn't help much because u are at the below the mid point of the tire.

Look at the 'dmax tim ?' topic.

I just put some 285/75/R16 Goodyear mt/r's on the stock rims yesterday. The torsion bars were already cranked to about 1.5". All I had to do was trim the air dam a little bit (I was able to drive home without cutting it).

After (not hardly noticable)

It was "easy" on mine. I used chromed H2 wheels
and BFG 285/70-17 All Terrain KO tires. I did NO adjusting
of the Torsion bars and very minor trimming of
the airdam since it only rubbed on full turn.
HERE (http://207.53.239.181/~terry/truck/H2-wheels/) are the pictures of them installed on my truck.

good luck - hope this helps,

T.

Hummer wheels are too wide for 285`s in my opinion But it is possible. The Hummer wheels are 8.5" wide, while the 285 tires are 11.22" tread width on 285`s can't be more then about 8 1/2" and that is what is important. The tread has to be wider then the wheel, other wise you are just waiting for trouble.

I know the angle is not the same, but mine with the green keys look about an inch or more higher then yours with 1 1/2" key adjustment.

Thanks, just got to find a nice set of chromed H2s now. What does prime mean these days? Is it like cool, sharp, hip, farout, punk, spiffy, funky, rad? and the list probably could go on for ever.
