: How tall is this thing?
Montanaman 11-14-2006, 10:23 AM I have, I think, a 7' garage door at home and by the looks of it, this thing isn't going in there!
Before I wast all the time to actually clean out a space large enough for the truck, has anyone managed to fit a dually with 4wd and stock tires in a garage with a 7' door?
Wife told me to let some air out of the tires!!

Time to get out the tape measure! Garage door openings can be deceiving...
Just make sure you measure the lowest point on the opening and highest point on th truck and then if you think it'll fit, have the wife watch while you pull it in the first time... tell her to yell if it's going to hit...
Montanaman 11-14-2006, 10:41 AM I was going to, but it's pretty easy to measure the door and pretty hard to measure the truck! It's never parked on a level area and to do it right, you would almost have to have two boards and a string!
Are there any published dimensions on these trucks?

D-maxedinny 11-14-2006, 12:00 PM Assuming your talking height. Don't know about the dually but,my 2500 w/cranked tortion bars and 33" tires fits in a 7' door.
DuramaxxedLBZ 11-14-2006, 01:23 PM You don't have a lift on it do ya? If not you should be fine, if it is a 7'door. Thing I'd worry the most about is fitting the fat butt that duallys have in the door, if stock height shouldn't be an issue
RoadRunnerTR21 11-14-2006, 03:19 PM The opening to the smallest of my 4 garage doors is 6' 7". My truck has been inside the opening several times with no problem.
ABQFirefighter 11-14-2006, 04:27 PM My 2500HD has a 4" lift and 33's and fits just fine.
Montanaman 11-14-2006, 04:29 PM Thanks guys!!
I'll have to measure the doors tonight. Real shame but I didn't build the garage. It's a 24 x 40 with two 16' wide doors but the height just stinks!
The one side has no door opener so that's going to be my only shot at it fitting.
Was really hoping we could find the right house without a garage so I could build with a future hydraulic lift in mind!!

sherr20 11-14-2006, 07:08 PM My garage is a 7 foot opening and my 05 Ford F350 SRW 4x4 would just go in. It was much taller stock than our trucks are. You will fit fine.
Sherm 11-15-2006, 07:27 AM The truck will fit but don't plan on putting any type of full size fiberglass cover on it. The rear on these are considerably higher than in the front. There is no way we could get ours in the garage with a cover. Went with a roll up instead.
billyohl 11-15-2006, 01:34 PM Don't forget that the truck will be taller when the fuel tank is low and this weight is off the shocks/springs...;)
qwomack 11-15-2006, 03:21 PM The parking garage at our local hospital in NC has a clearance of 6'4" that I have been through. I watched the roof of the truck like a hawk the first time I went through, especially over the speed bumps and expansion joints. There was about 1/2" of clearance. Talk about pucker factor.
carhauler 11-16-2006, 08:36 PM OK ! lots of response , what if your garage is 20'6" deep , then what ? anyone ever solved this one with out a major remodel? I hate having to leave it out in the sun.
RoadRunnerTR21 11-17-2006, 06:59 AM I built a 30'X48' second garage with 15' high side walls and that solved the problem. :D
02 WS6 TA 11-17-2006, 07:31 AM I was in a 7' clearance parking deck yesterday...No problems, although I did find myself tending to duck my head at times.

Ha, same here. Cars inside, Truck outside. :(
Montanaman 11-17-2006, 09:44 AM Well it looks like I should be in good shape! Height from floor to lowest part of door is 82" and I can block the door back a bit. Depth from door to rear wall is 23' so that should leave a foot plus in length.
I need to get the garage cleaned and the truck in there so I can fix the fuse box wires that the rodents ate!!!!
Once I geet the fuse box wires repaired, the truck will remain IN THE GAREGE with about 20 traps around it and little bowls of anti-freeze around it.

rutwad 11-18-2006, 07:02 PM I have a 3500 cab/chassis 4x4 and it will fit under my 84" opening. But the dually looks taller to me. Are they the same height?
Montanaman 11-27-2006, 09:25 AM Well she's in the garage!! I did block the door back so I'm not sure if it would have fit without doing that..............Need to put a post-it note on the steering wheel so I remember to block it when I pull out!!
Not a lot of room in front with the back just about touching the rear of the garage, but at least it's in there.
Have plenty of room for the work I need to do, repairing the rodent damaged wires in the fuse box:-(

dmax3500 11-28-2006, 07:34 PM i was going to tell you just stand on the gas and itill fit just fine
SaguaroKid 11-29-2006, 12:50 AM If you have an opener adjust it to open farther?
Montanaman 11-29-2006, 01:18 PM No opener on that side of the garage. I'm thinking it may fit without blocking the door. Have to try that some day when my spotter is available.
There is really no excuse for me that it came to this point for me to clean the garage well enough to get the truck to fit!! For what these things cost, it should have been in there the day I brought it home.
I do a lot of service work in that garage because by business location lacks a good garage but hope to change that some day in the future!
Now the wife is mad because mine is inside and hers is still outside!
Ken
carhauler 11-29-2006, 01:35 PM My wife said her car can stay out so my truck and Me can be in the garage.LOL
