I just changed my fuel lift pump at 65,000 miles. The seal failed and allowed fuel into the motor. The pump could not supply the necessary fuel. I talked to Cummins and the minimum output is 45 ounces of fuel in 30 seconds. Has anyone else had this problem? The pump is bolted to a piece of metal angle on the engine block. I think the engine heat is transferring to the pump and ruining the seals prematurely. Keep me posted about similar problems.

It's common for pre- 03 models. Jury still out on the new ones.
