i got a funny one going on. my ses light came on 2wice last week and i cleared the codes by disconnecting the battery without having them read. so here is what is happening. i just recently noticed i don't seem to be getting torque convertor lockup now. not quite sure when it all came about but today i downshifted to 2nd and back up to drive while doing about 30 mph. the ses light came on and now i have torque convertor lockup. tomorrow i will again clear the codes and see if i get torque convertor lockup or not. if not what might cause the issues. ideas ?? seems odd to not have an ses light with no convertor lockup or have the ses light and torque convertor lockup. i'm leaning towards crossed wire as it should be no ses light and torque lockup, kinda back asswards. Codes are really gonna pin it down for you. Could be tranny, brake switch or Coolant temperature sensor.

If PCM senses hi-temp trans fluid, line pressure increases and TC locks up firmer, reducing slip to try to cool the trans down.
Better check those codes, rather than just clearing them

anyone know a place to get codes read for free in Canada, specifically Vancouver lower mainland area. I know pep boys and autozone do it for free in the USA. but I don't think they have yet moved into Canada

okay, i have the code. p0126 engine coolant temperature. so that said am i going to change it. you bet. question is where is it. i'm gonna assume it is on the thermostat housing. yes / no... haven't been out to look at it as it is now dark outside

I just changed mine. I posted the parts numbers for both sensors in the "part point" sticky. Mine is a 94 tho. The ECT sensor for the PCM is in the t-stat crossover and the ECT sensor for the gauge is in the drivers side head.

Yep - and that code is for ECT not suitable for stable operation, which will mess with the trans shifting and such prior to throwing the DTC.
