Hey, I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but it seems most fitting for this question.

Does anyone know if the futumoto oil drain plug valve will fit anything other than the duramax, or if anyone makes an oil drain plug valve that will fit other vehicles?

My dad has a 6.0 gasser and the oil drain plug is in the most AKWARD position ever, about 1.25" away from an exhaust pipe.

yes they're available for just about any motor, just need to look deeper to find them. I've had mine for years and love the ease of it. I'd put one on my wife's T-blazer but the access panel to the plug doesn't allow it.

I don't use one because you lose the magnet in the end of the oil plug. I've never changed the oil and not found something on the magnet.

Exactly. I kept the factory plug and also run a hard drive magnet on the bottom of the oil filter. The damn filter magnet is super strong!

One of these days, I need to cut open a oil filter to see what I am catching.

Could you possible post a picture of the magnet on your oil filter? That sounds like a great idea!

Are the threads on the drain for the Dmax engine the same for the alisson also?? That would be nice to have...

...in a low profile Femco drain ;)

You have a couple of choices. You can buy a FilterMag for around $70, or you get one that fits on the end of the filter from ebay - like this one: Item# 130048128390

well I can't speak for the Ebay one, but one time up at Kennedy's place he showed me a cut out casing from a fuel filter he ran with a filtermag attached. You could literally see the lines from the particles becoming inground into the metal.

Just to prove that even fuel has particles we don't want that filters can't catch.

I'm not sure where it would pick up metalic particles from, but obviously it does. That's pretty scary. Where in the fuel line was the filter mounted (or was it the stock filter?)?

it was on the stock filter, one of the filtermags that he sells.

the filter had lines of 'dirt' that perfectly matched the filtermag design. It was actually kind of cool.

just checked if you go to his site (kennedydiesel.com) go to the truck accessories and the filtermag tab you'll see a photo of it, although it looks better in real life.

Sounds like I will be adding a hard drive magnet to my fuel filter also.

JPW77 - There are two very strong magnets in hard drives. At work, when one goes bad, we take it apart and can use the magnets for whatever we want. They are about 2" x 1" square and are extreemly strong. I just place it at the bottom of the filter.

I forgot that I had posted the question about the magnets. :o: Thanks for the replies. I'll have to see if I can come across an old hard drive somewhere and try this out.
