Having just purchased my truck, I was looking for a nice bedliner. Although many people recommend spray-in type, I did not like the idea of having something so permanent in my truck. I also did not like most drop-in bedliners, as the quality seemed to be lacking, expecially in fit-n-finish.

Well, I searched around the net and eventually found this thing called "Dualcomp" made by California Dreams. Basically, it is a 5-piece drop-in unit with hard sides and a rubber mat for the bed. I ordered it and it came about 2 weeks later, today. So I put it in. First off, this thing is NOT as easy to install as they make it seem in the video on their site. That guy must have practiced for a year to do it so fast.

Anyway, took me the better part of 20 minutes to install it. When it came to the tailgate cover, I was a little disturbed to find that they wanted me to drill 5 holes in my tailgate just to attach the cover. No thanks.

My wife and I both agreed that this was really crappy bedliner. The rubber bed mat did not sit flat on the bed, and there was no sealing around the edges, so water has no problem getting in. The bed liner was not really secured either, so I could see it rattling around in the wind or just falling off.

So I just ripped it off and put it in the box, called up the place I bought it from (cabelas) and told them I want to return it. I am going to get a spray-in lining after all. I'd rather have something permanent that works well rather than something easy to remove that doesn't work at all.

Bottom line, think twice about the dualcomp liner. It's cheap, and tempting, and not too many reviews about it anywhere. But this is definitely one case where you get what you pay for.

NOTE: This is just my experience with the product. It does not mean this bedliner will not work for you. It is cheap, and for some people, it might be fine. For me, using this bedliner would be like putting a bumper sticker on a corvette.

Can you recommend any nearby line-x shops? How much does it cost?

Truckster,

I have the DualComp bed liner and am very happy with it. The plastic sides are secure and the rubber floor mat sits flat on the floor. The mat goes into grooves on the side pieces. I like the fact that things don't slide around at all on the mat. I have taken the mat out to clean it and inspect the box floor. I too did not like the way the plastic was fastened to the tailgate, but drilled the holes anyway. Sounds like you may have missed a couple of steps on the installation.

No, I did not miss any installation steps. The 5-piece design goes a long way toward making the dualcomp a really cheap (price and quality) bedliner.

Like I said, some people may find it suitable. I guess you are one of those people.

LINE-X's cost will vary from dealer to dealer. Use the dealer search function on their website to find the dealers near you. www.goline-x.com Edited by: TruckDaddy

You can also ask Line-X dealers for 10% off (some may go more, but that is what I got off). Call around and see if you can get some local competition between them. It worked for me. There was also a $20 coupon on the Line-X website, but the 10% was a better deal and I couldn't convince them to do both.

The closest line-x dealer is like 50 miles away. The one that is nearby in Willow Grove wants over $500 for over the rails, and they only spray on Saturdays, so they're backed up until September. That's retarded. $400 is about as much as I want to spend on a bedliner, so I'll be checking out some other options like speedliner or rhino.
