How much improvement will I see by upgrading to a Suncoast level 3 using just the hot juice/attitude for comparison sake?

0-60, 1/4 mile etc.

Heck, I even have it set up for online ordering...

Well, the thing is that i can trade up for next to nothing... So I'm STILL up in the air. Usually I make hasty decisions and don't think things through. For some reason I can't make up my mind on this one, I'm thinking too much. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

It would be simple to me by answering these questions.

If your happy stock ,switch.

If not the seat is broken in ,in your 03 and you'll have to do either tranny to run a BOX to maximum.

How far do you want to go in power ? IMO the LLY we be hindered.Full emissions and turbo.

Guys are setting codes upgrading their exhaust for crying out loud, good grief.

Also I would wait for the second year at least for the possible tweaking so a 04 is out of the question in my book.

Dodge? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

Nope.

1)He needs the solid front axle for self esteem after all the years of beat downs. The only 4 wheeling he'll be doing today is when he pulls the front wheels on the grass to get out of the wifes way in the Tahoe.

2)Cubby Cab shortbox trucks have no wheelbase so the turning radius of a VW Bug is possible.Big REAL trucks need room.

I will give you an actual answer but IMO not really much if any in the lower gears. Although you could get away with having the defuel turned off on a SC trany so you would pick up a bit there.

My observation running behind disturbed trucks at JK's get together after he got his level 3 done(durring our parade run) his beta juiced truck ran even with me till we hit 5th and then he flat out walked me. Dont know what the lly beta juice is rated at? It dose smoke quite a bit more than mine. Ask him though.....i cant remember what the befor eand after dyno #'s were? Maybe he or John or someone with a better memory than me will check it?

The LLY did just across 400 IIRC. Remember Philip, your stock trans is gonna suck in 5th gear as the Juice will cut back for sure.

The thing with the LLY is, that it is managed in 1st and 5th, and turbo response hasn't been too awesome. Word is, EGT's are quite high.

Dunno what kind of boost they are getting from them either. I'm waiting till the full on 2005 Model to jump in.

I've figured out the trans hangup on mine, and it no longer hesitates at the to of 2nd gear, now it rips the tires past 60mph whereas it was bobbling as it crossed 40-45mph and lost momentum.

It now shifts like a stock Allison during normal driving, but wail on it with the big VA and it will chatter, howl and chirp tires all over the place in a non boosted launch...

kennedy, what do you mean by hangup in second because mine does the same thing i think. I hangs in second for a second or two at redline and then shifts. What is the cure for it???

Thats what i found trying to keep up with disturbedhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif One of the few times I layed into it in 5th. There was about a 45 hp difference between stock trans and Stage III. It went from around 375 to 420 IIRC. Seat of the pants is nothing less thanhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Rock On.gif You can really feel it snappin through the gears, especially with the defueling turned off.

Phillip- I knew by our conversations at John's it was only a matter of time before you got the Stage III.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif We did stay pretty close like you said. However, i still had 1/4 of the peddle left!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif Just messin with ya man. Good luck with the install.

If you are going that far, I'd consider the Suncoast V and be done with it. I have great confidence in the III, but REWORK SUCKS...

DONT SAY THAT JOHN!!! After talking with Joe at Suncoast about it, I am VERY confident. Time will tell.

No spray as of yet. I gotta get 4 new injectors first and they are on backorder right now. I will be going with the 2 Stage setup in case you are wondering. Not sure what size yet thoughhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Evil Smile.gif

Lets hope the level 3 holdshttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif I guess time will tell.

I thought there were people running level 3's and spray? Water/meth dosnt seem to add much power in the hot dodge motors at least not what spray will.

I guess if I smoke the clutches its 500$ for a new set and I can either step the power down(probably not going to happen) or hope sombody has another fix that can be done as a kit by me.

4 injectors? like fuel injectors? I'm not following.....unless you mean the nozzels for the spray? Were you mounting em? One in the intercooler inlet and one in the outlet? What size shots are you considering? How you going to activate, hobs?

I also havent been able to dig up much info on spraying a duramax.

Sorry, I ran 2 different topics into one. I am waiting for the dealer to get injectors in because I have a few that are bad. They will be replacing them under warranty. Once fixed.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Evil Smile.gif

Not much info out there about sprying diesel trucks period. I will probably be mounting the nozzles as close to the intercooler as possible. One pre, one post. Possibly on the intercooler itself, the arms look like they will accept a tap no problem. If not, I will get an extra set of pipes to weld bungs on and go that route. I will take plenty of pics and do a write up for the install. I will be using the TS Performance Powerfool 2 system. Comes complete with everything you need for a full install. Check it out HERE (http://www.performancetruckproducts.com/store/agora.cgi?cart_id=5707638.29642*9O0Qm1&product=Nit rous)

Boy this went OT quick, sorry http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif Seen thier stuff and it does look good. At least it seems safer than on a gasser. You go lean on a gasser and watch out! I remember JK's burn out how he was smacking off the limiter and it kept cutting fuel, blowing a haze out the back end, sounding like ass and smelling like a alky burning car. I dont think it was good for his truck but I'm betting a gasser wouldnt have held its cookies through thathttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Dead.gif

So are you just activating it off a micro switch? In my 1/2 assed research I was planning on a microswitch/hobbs for activation and possibly 2 hobbs for 2 seperate hits based on boost. A couple of dry injectors in the IC intake and outlet. Figuring i would peice together my sytem. A pile of pills and a bit of dyno time and hopefully I can get her dialed in without killing something. I just prefer a softer hit for parts and traction reasons so I'm going to step it, aint going to feed it all at once. Also heard from some cummins boys not to spray before you got some R's and some boost. Kinda like a gasser in that respect. Still trying to do research....

All you really need is an arming switch and a momentary switch. I hit my nitrous manually, you have a built in nitrous controller between your ears.

Apply the KISS rule, the more complicated you make it with switches and boost levels the more likely it is for something to go wrong, IMHO.

It is my understanding that the SC-L3 is the kit form of the SC-L4 which is an assembled unit.

If you look at Suncoast web site it lists this.

http://www.suncoastconverters.com/gm_pricing.htm

and it will have all this in the kit..........http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big%20Smile.gif

This Stage III kit will allow you to upgrade your Allison to the 500+ HP level. This kit contains our triple disc torque converter, Transgo ® shift kit, boost modifier valve, C-1 power pak with 16 friction elements, C-2 power pak with 15 friction elements using Kolene steels, C-3 power pak with 9 friction elements (Kolene steels),
C-4 power pak with 11 friction elements (Kolene steels) This kit increases clutch capacity over 60% and includes billet apply plates for C-1 & C-2 clutch packs, sump filter, and spin-on filter.

It lists Billet apply plates for C1 and C2 and the kit I have has a new C3 apply piston. Sun Coast has increased clutch capacity in C1-C4.

The Level 5 is not a kit it is assembled as a unit only and is $600.00 above the Level 4 assembled unit. The L5 does have some in house machining as well as a few tricks.........I am told.....

For most the SC-3 will get it done. I see what Nick aka Diesel Power is throwing at his truck with just a TTS single disk with all stock clutches and the Transgo with TCC flow valve.........It is holding up fine, since last fall and ?????? miles.

So I for one am not worried...........

Hey mack..just for the record...Hoot is over at TDR defending the dodge fuel pump...apparently some guy posted about his fuel pump going out on a 3rd. gen truck..Hoot says that they are generally reliable...Got news for the whole world: they are not. Where does Hoot get his info? He has owned his truck for like four months and he is a dodge expert..just thought you would like to know for the next time he starts in on his IFS bs or whatever else he comes up with. He never surprises me anymorehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

dodge brochures lmao!! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif Mack..you bein over to diesel central lately?...Tomac has been defending himself against the dodge front in the truck pulling battle ground. There giving him bull pucky about having NOS. Keep in mind however he doesn't use it while truck pulling because you know thats a no no. People can use turbos big enough to create a tornado but the dmaxs can't use any spray cause the dodges may not fair as well as there used to. Let me justify this to everyone by saying I pulled cummins in the past. Its funny to me to hear all this belly achin. I can honestly say that the belly achin part of truck pulling I don't miss at all. I suppose thats one way to do it.....I actually have a momentary switch in mind if it goes that way that i was going to use as a arming switch with a latching relay I bought for another project. Dont have fog lights but I bought the switch for em and have taken it apart to see its guts, I think it will work trick. I like being able to spray with both hands on the wheels though is one reason for the hobs, and how do you run a progressive hit without? Seems craming too much spray lower boost would be bad. Although lower boost wouldnt happen except right off the line I suppose....and I could wait till i hit it a bit longerhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif Like I said though I know zip about spraying a duramax.

IF I ever let sombody else drive my truck I'm going to have a standard phrase and maybe a plaque made. "I dont care how dark it gets dont turn on the freaking fog lights"http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Shocked.gif

I think its ingrained into my DNA or something to try to overcomplicate thingshttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Geek.gif

I was worried about one handing it too but it is really no problem. With a flexline to your dry jet the "hit" is nice and soft, just a progressive increase in power.

My truck builds boost so fast that spraying early is not an issue. Just ask Tomac, he sprays right out of the holeshot with his. Using boost as a metric you really don't have much time for a two-stage hit, I think it would end up looking like one big shot anyway. There are several nitrous controllers that you could look into that have many triggers you can set. RPM, Boost, APP, Time Delay, Etc. If you like complex and are a control freak get one of those. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Geek.gif

There are a couple of details that Suncoast does in house only which is why I recommend the 4 or 5 for those trying to move mountains.

The III is pretty darn stout, but sometimes a little overkill is better...
