I'm thinking about the best way to wire up my Hadley's. I had a friend make some stainless steel brackets that I am going to mount. I bought a $10.00 wiring harness that is supposed to be for a trailer brake controller and I'm going to use the SEO (C-8 I think) block in the MBEC for my mainline solenoid power.

The question is, where would you guys tap into the horn switch to activate the relay? I would like to stay as compact with the wiring as possible, but would also prefer to not have to tap into the steering column if at all possible. Or would you just tap off the horn relay in the underhood BEC? That seems like it would be harder to me.

Thanks,
Dennis

Oh, by the way, the only technical reference I have is the upfitter guide. Not comprehensive, but enough information to make me dangerous. And THAT is a scary thing.

Thanks again,
Dennis

Dennis,

My suggestion to you is that you bypass using your Hadleys as your primary horn. There will be many times you will not want to use them and may hesitate if they are your primary’s.

Mount a remote temp. contact switch that is nearby, like in the console. Wire and fuse it separately. This will assure that you will not screw up the computer or air bag connections.

Use of even the Hadleys may be restricted in certain areas.

Yes the Hadleys will be restricted in use. Most cities around here have ordinances for that. You will never hear a truck horn (emergency vehicles aside) within city limits. I have always had a seperate button.

Thanks for the responses,

The set of Hadley's I got is intended to be wired in parrallel with the vehicle's stock horns, and a toggle switch is included in case you want to turn off the air horns.

I was wondering if anyone used this type of setup and if so, where you tapped into the horn circuit so that I can just mash the center of the steering wheel and get some air. . . so to speak.

Thanks,
Dennis
