My brother has an old body style 2000 k2500 crew cab, 454. He want to install a brake controller and I am wondering if it has the harness like current Hd trucks. I see that the NBS trucks did of that year, but not sure about this red-headed step child of a truck. It has factory tow I believe.

No it does not. You need to go old school and hard wire it in. There are 2 wires under the hood near the steering shaft, blue and orange I think. The blue is for the brake controller and the orange is for constant power for the rear. I can't remember if the green wire is the one you tap into for the brake lights to acivate the trailer brakes but easy to see at the brake switch under the dash.
