No problem, I was just thinking about these today and forgot I ordered them. Guess it doesn't matter much to me since they are still building my new truck. ):h

I've never heard mine rattle. Someone posted in the recent thread that they thought theirs were rattling until they took the toolbox out of the bed and realized it was the tools, not the straps.

A little praise and a suggestion. I bought a set from the last run and think they are great, WAY better than the stock cables! One thing that might make them even better is to add a second "key hole" near the hinge pin, so the tail gate can be held a 45* or so angle. I have colored what I think to be the ideal location on the strap in the pic. The retaining flap could be left off here as it should only be in this position temporarily. I noticed the Colorado/Canyon have a tailgate strap similar to to this and think it would be nice to have, especialy for those of us with short beds that throw a bike or two in the back on occasion. The upper portion could rest against the latch pin so it won't scratch anything up. This shouldn't weaken it as the hole will be the same size as the one already in this piece. What do ya think?

not a bad idea and very doable on my end. If I get enough requests I'll make a handfull of them.

I'd would like a set for sure, even if they are a 1 of 1. Just let me know if any get made and be sure to find your paypal again!

Im new here but I was just wondering what the benefit of these straps are? Just stronger than the factory cable? How much weight does it take to break the cable?

The braided cables were trapping water in the plastic sleeve and corroding. This would lead to a sudden failure of both cables, causing the tailgate to fall, damaging it on the rear bumper and leading to numerous injuries and at least one death. There was a recall to replace the original cables with an improved design, there haven't been any reports I'm aware of on failures of the new cables, but I went with the VRStraps long before the recall.
