Has GM actually started installing the replacement tailgate cables? I was expecting to hear from them concerning this recall by now.

All I remember reading in the letter was that we would get another letter saying when to go to the dealership to have them installed. Remember they have to make millions of these straps so it may take a while.


For some reason, I remember reading or hearing that it would be late summer/early fall so maybe August or September.

Had the misfortune to have one of the tailgate cables break today, while I was standing on the gate with a bale of hay (combined weight of 300#). one cable let go and the fall to the bumper bent the corner of the tailgate and hinge! I've never had that happen before! We will see if GM will fix all of the damage. More later!

I was just in the dealer yesterday. They said mid August before they get the new ones in. My strap broke and they replaced it with the old style free of charge, until the new ones come in that will have to do.

Are the new trucks coming with the new strap? I took delivery of my truck last week and I don't know if it has the new strap or if I'll be getting a letter about it.
