One of our members whom I won't name is going to do some serious back country traveling in his Duramax. I was very fortunate to meet this man. I installed a Suncoast stage 3 in his truck. He is in the process of installing all kinds of things in his Duramax. He has a copuccino machine in it.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Rock On.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif He will be going into the back country of Mexico, and then he plans to ship the Duramax to Australia and hit the back country down there. I would give anything to do this. This man has Cajones (his Duramax does too). I am very proud of this man, member, for taking on this expedition. I would like to see GM do a little sponsoring, ARE YOU LISTENING GM? I hope this gentleman, I would like to call him friend, shares his preparations with us, and his experiences with us. I think we might all like to throw our 2 cents worth of advice at him while he gets his Duramax ready for the ultimate adventure. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Mike - I do Southern Mexico and Guatemala backwoods most winters for 3 months, averaging about 25,000 miles for 3 months. Lots of winching, mud, sand, and narrow roads with potholes big enough to bury a VW in. My 2002 has done about 45,000 miles below the border, about 10,000 of it off road. Always looking for people to fly in and join me exploring Mayan ruins and the jungle, small towns, etc for a week or two, sharing expenses. I will leave in Dec or Jan this winter and come back late March. Australia next year, but no D/Max - rent what I can find. To far to ship for a month or so. Have new 2005 D/Max being built second week of Aug and delivered I hope first week of Sept. Usually takes me a month to fully equip one for Central America. This year would like to go all the way to Panama if I could find riders. Would like to talk to your client about where he plans to go in Mexico - I know most of it very well having been doing this for years. My emphasis is on Mayan ruins - especially isolated ones people don't get to. This year includes a two day copter excursion into the Peten jungle to the only major Mayan ruin I have not seen yet. I don't do mules and horses nor mosquitoes for days on end.

Boy, I hope Eric is putting those stickers in with our current orders, that would be SWEET!!
Wonder if his client is . . . . PROBLEMCHILD . . . . ???? Sounds like something that he would do! That could provide some interesting stories!? Wasn't he selling off some of his stuff to fund somekind of excursion a while back?

To anyone making these trips:
I probably cant bring my truck, but I will go with anyone of you on these adventures. I have travelled throughout Mexico, Costa Rica, and Panama and seen some of Brazil too. I have never been able to bring a truck with me. I am a surfer so my destinations are usually good waves. Sounds like the fella going to the Outback could be a surfer too. I can help with expenses too. You boys are living the dream.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Rock On.gif
