Just got back from an 8 DAY 2533 mile trip towing our 14,300lb 5'er. Average DIC MPG indicated 10.3 at a near constant 65 MPH. ULSDF started shsowing up in the DFW, OKC, and MEM areas but I saw no change in MPG or performance. I use "Stanadyne" fuel additive.

I'm switching to Rotella 15W40 synthetic this week and increasing my oil change interval's to 5K. "The Silver Fox" with just over 11K miles is running strong and trouble free.

Truck on!!!

Does Shell make a 15W40 synthetic? I thought their synthetic was 5W40?

Shell makes a 5W-40 synthetic only.

I'm in the middle of a similar trip pulling a 13.5k 5er...FSM, OKC, AMA, ABQ to PHX...averaged 9.9 to Gallup NM, and 12.3 from there to PHX. Saturday we go back the other way using the southern route...TUS, FTW (just west of DFW), MLC to FSM.
