This is somewhat off-topic question, but it also relates to our engines.
I have about 15 hours on my RV’s Onan generator since I did the oil
change about 2 years ago. It calls for a change at 150 hours or
every year. Looking at the dipstick, I have very clean oil........ so why change it?

I’m looking at our D/max short trip maintenance schedule and GM recommends
changing oil every 5000 mile (or every 3 months whichever occurs first)
The long trip schedule is 7500 miles (or every 12 months, which ever occurs first)

My question is....... if one has minimal use on an engine, why do the
engine manufactures recommend the time intervals for oil change?

I think it is because the oil additives break down over time.

True story, oxidation if you will. Synthetics aren't as susceptible, but remember how there always used to be a time frame as well as a mileage recomendation?

You ought to be dumping it at least once a year, running it occasionally would help as well, keep the cylinder walls from rusting/pitting and raising cain with the rings.
