I have been thinking about putting on a Ranch Hand front bumper with the grill guard/push bar type set up. Does anyone have any idea how this will affect the air bags should I be involved in an accident? Will I have to relocate any of the air bag sensors?

You planning for an accident? Call a dealer or a body shop and ask them about the sensor that sets off the air bags. Where located? How activated? I have a ranch hand and I did not see any sensors related to the bumper itself.

If you have a Ranch Hand you don't need any front air bags http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Seriously, wear your seatbelt, front impact air bags are not necessary as long as you are buckled in. The sensor may not be ideally positioned once you add the Ranch Hand, but then again it may.

It would take a lot of testing to determine a better location -- how many trucks can you spare http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clown.gif

Your statement suggests that air bags might have some value if the occupant is not belted. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Shocked.gif Far from true.... Serious injury can be expexpected from the airbag if not belted inhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Dead.gif.

Most of teh front bumper replacements, including RanchHand are fully compatible with the air bag system so no worry! I had one on my 99 3/4T Suburban and it was built very tough. Took 3 men to lift it up in place! Enjoy it

Thanks for the help. My biggest worry is hitting a deer or bear at night. This truck is really the first vehicle I have had where I will wear the seat belt all the time.
