Why is it that nobody knows how much oil goes in my duramax? The chevrolet website states that it is only 6.0 quarts. The dealership told me that it is between 12 and 15 quarts. And the Autozone people told me that it is 10 with the filter. What the heck is the deal. I dont know why the website would say only 6.0 quarts, can someone enlighten me? I put 6 in there and the dipstick was dry. I cranked her up and the low oil level didnt even come on. Is 6 safe, I mean I know it needs more, but shouldnt the low oil light come on and the oil pressure is fine.

6 quarts for GAS motors! 10 quarts for diesels. Six aint safe! No, No, No! you must not have specced the diesel when you went to the web site.
