It has done it since day one when I bought the truck. belt is new gates.
I know that this is an old post but I have had this problem with my 02 PSD since buying it. The dealer has given me four new Motorcraft belts, bought me a carquest brand belt and a Gates brand belt, given me a new tensioner and idler, and also had their so called "diesel tech" clean the pulleys and check everything with no results. I have determined that the squeal is coming from the crank pulley, which is strange because the belt wraps halfway around the pulley. The dealer in their infinite wisdom thought that the water pump was shot and pulling too hard causing the problem (because the belt runs over the water pump pulley on the back side) so they even replaced that, but it didn't help! I have learned to live with it but it is the most annoying thing to listen to while cruising down the road in a forty thousand dollar truck! Other than that the truck has been perfect!
