Unit453 11-11-2006, 12:45 PM They fix my guage cluster under warranty. I somehow get stuck paying labor. Long story short, my speedo works fine now but my hour meter was never programmed. It showed that I only have 1 hour on the engine with 55,000 miles...
I dont think I'm gonna bother with getting it fixed.

What was wrong with your cluster that they fixed under warranty?
My Tach stopped working, Im hoping they will do the same for me!!!
Unit453 11-11-2006, 12:49 PM My speedo stuck at 70.
Reineke 11-11-2006, 08:22 PM 55000 miles per hour, better slow it down! ;) :thumb: I'd get it fixed now while the "repair" is fresh... Shouldn't be too difficult.
TIM Z 11-11-2006, 08:32 PM Just remember, NO ONE CARES About your truck like you do! Ive found this out many times. It sux but thats why i Physically watch any repair done to my vehicle, i miss work if i have too, im anal bout my truck, too expensive not to .

He's "gone to plaid"............ludicrous speed!
Unit453 11-11-2006, 10:42 PM I dont know if I'm gonna even bother gettin it fixed. I can deal with it. I dont know my hours anyways...Around 1300 IIRC.
dmaxalliTech 11-11-2006, 10:44 PM Cant blame the dealer for that. The dealer does nothing more then pull it out and send it away. Specmo is the authorized repair center for GM electronics and they would be the ones that should have done that. More often then not, your cluster is exchanged and when the dealers call the order in, they only give the miles, not the hours too.
Bodysurfer 11-11-2006, 10:57 PM Thought the dealer is the one that puts your orginal miles/hours back in after install via Tech II.
dmaxalliTech 11-11-2006, 10:57 PM no. Dealer cant perform that operation
Bodysurfer 11-11-2006, 10:58 PM Okay, just seemed that when I got my cluster done I was in and out in 2 hours.

No kidding? Apparently things have changed then..
Back in 00-02 at the dealership we ordered a replacement cluster. We had to call in the mileage AND hours..Boy, did the techs glare when you asked about the hours...It was usually a glare followed by a string of Censored as they had to walk back out to the truck to get the information.
Apparently they have to fix the cluster that was in the truck to begin with now?
Unit453 11-11-2006, 11:03 PM I was told that the whole cluster was replaced. My odometer, oil life, trip and all that was unchaged. I just noticed that the hours were reading 1 instead of around 1300.
TheBac 11-12-2006, 08:30 AM Do you have a little sticker on the door now, stating the hours/miles when the cluster was changed out?

No, dont think so. Why would they do this?

:exactly: Through 9/05 that's what I had to do, give Specmo miles and hours, along with the part number on the label. They wouldn't guarantee us the correct part (clusters or radios) without all the info.
The techs REALLY swore a blue streak when they forgot to get the hours, and already had the cluster out and on the counter!
I don't know if they have to fix the part that came out of the vehicle, but they were always short of parts, IIRC the cluster cores were $500-600, to make sure they got sent back.
DURAtotheMAX 11-13-2006, 10:11 AM yep they didnt program hours into mine either when I warranteed it...
saratoga 11-13-2006, 11:47 AM Isn't the Dmax covered to 100k or 3k hours or something like that?
Look on the bright side... your warranty won't run out based on hours now.
TheBac 11-13-2006, 08:36 PM No, dont think so. Why would they do this?
If information in the cluster is changed from original, they're supposed to document it, and usually will paste a sticker with the original cluster info (before the swap) inside the door.
T172JR 11-14-2006, 12:22 PM Just called my dealer about my speedo broke. they told me $300-$400 to fix! If there are so many problems with this how is not warranty at all. My truck only has 440k on it. I'll drive with it broke before i spend $400.00 on it.

It's not warranty because the warranty is very clearly spelled out to be 3/36. No more, no less. It doesn't say it's extended if it's a common problem.
You ONLY have 440k miles? A typo I hope. If so and you're not too far out of the warranty, you might find a dealer that is willing to help out just because it is a common issue. It helps to have a dealer you visit occasionally for service work and perhaps even bought the truck there. You could also try calling GM customer assistance at 800-222-1020 and see if they can help convincing a dealer to help you out, though ultimately, the dealer service manager makes the decision. If not totally coverin it, maybe they'll offer you 50/50 assistance.

I have an extended plan thats bumper to bumper to 60,000 miles. And I did speak with a rep at the company that my entended plan is through and they claim that the dealerships are robbing me of the labor costs. I have a $100 deductable, which obviously, I'm responsible for. Looks like two different dealerships owe me some money.

This is exactly why I bought the ZERO deductible 100K warranty.
