: UB1 lux upgrade
med8921 11-11-2006, 12:11 PM All,
Just got back from the dealer and a couple of things have happened. We are working on UB1 which is second rev. to the UC6.
First we were able to select the correct tuner and audio selections for Uq7 y91/y92 and the radio has no sound as planned. All features check out except the "Auto EQ" which does nothing now, so I can't verify the flash is good. Working from the part # listed in the upgrade document.
OS 15100937 only available --> 158484469
Tuner 15064112 good
Audio 15064134 good
Eq 15126143 15126142 reduce chime
--- Eq had lots of other choices but not 15126143 ---
System 15100939 only available --> 15848472
I believe the EQ to be the issue now. Any Ideas?
Thanks! -Mark
TheBac 11-11-2006, 12:34 PM Huh? Sorry, but I can't follow that post...
are you saying that you went to the dealer to re-program the CD/Cassette to LUX and it DIDN'T work?
The Tech must have done something wrong....
I'd have to have access to TIS to verify the program selection, but I don't have access to it anymore.
med8921 11-11-2006, 12:55 PM Yep,
I followed the guideline in the pdf with all the part #'s for the Uq7 upgrade. We were able to select the correct audio and tuner #'s. But according to Ben I can verify that this worked if the Auto/Eq shows me the new sound selections. The EQ is the only function on the radio that doesn't work so I can't verify the flash. I posted the #'s above that we used.

WanaDmxsub 11-11-2006, 02:40 PM I got in to TIS. Used my vin# and med8921s radio p#
Eq P# 15126143 is not available (or even shown) 15126142 is for reduce chime (Use only with UQ5/UQ7) All the other choices are for UQ3/Utility, Req Cab, Ext Cab, Crew Cab...etc.
med8921
Did you have to load all the p#'s? or could have just loaded the audio p#15064134?
I haven't done the upgrade yet, but my plan was to leave everything alone and just have the audio P# loaded.
Here is a link to TIS just incase someone needs it.

TheBac 11-11-2006, 02:53 PM Wana.....
How the heck did you do that? I'll bet you that link doesn't stay active long....that bad boy is in my favorites now...thanks a million!
This is what I came up with, just to compare:
ID Selected# Description
1 15138491 New software to resolve "CD will not load/eject" issue.
2 15064112 North America/Domestic
3 15064134 For C/K/H2: UQ7 with Y91/Y92. For S/T: With UQA. IMPORTANT: "AMP" appears in Class 2 Message Monitor, Amp. has 3 connectors.
4 15126142 New calibrations to reduce chime volume.
5 15138492 New software to resolve "CD will not load/eject" issue.
I would think that you can use 15195732 for the equalizer, too.
I am pretty sure you guys used the wrong EQ program, as 15126143 is not listed for the UB1 radio.
WanaDmxsub 11-11-2006, 02:58 PM Access TIS? That link has been posted here before. Doesn't it work for you?
You can't actually get anything from it, but you can see what is available.
TheBac 11-11-2006, 03:07 PM No, I did not ever see that link posted before. All I've ever needed it for was lookup, for situations just like this..
Incidentally, I noticed that under "System", the only program accessed with a UB1 part number was 15138491....all the others were blocked.
med8921 11-11-2006, 05:57 PM The EQ that we used 15126142 is the reduce chime for the UB1.
I went back to the dealer a little later and we put the original audio
back to stock. Radio works as it did before. The question seems to be
and Ben had given me the directions what to check - the "Auto EQ" should say "Spacious, Driver, Normal, Rear" if it was programmed successfully. Oddly enough it didn't operate after the new "audio" 15064134 was loaded. I'm wondering out loud here - If the amp would have been connected after the programming would the "AUTO EQ" have worked? DIDN'T WANT TO RISK IT.
I didn't have sound and Ben said it wouldn't with the premium amp attached. I'm kinda stuck why the EQ didn't work. Any Ideas?

TheBac 11-11-2006, 06:01 PM Wait a second. You loaded LUX programming into a radio without a LUX amp????
Where's that "duh" smiley when I need it....
Its no wonder nothing worked. A LUX programmed radio won't work with a non-LUX amp.
med8921 11-11-2006, 07:27 PM No- What I'm attempting to do is get a UB1 radio programmed correctly before I install the lux amp. I haven't seen any posts on a UB1 as with the uc6. I'm doing this a piece at a time and Ben gave instructions on what to look for in "Auto Eq" if successful. I didn't have sound which was expected but I didn't have the info under "Auto Eq" Ben was refering to either. When I'm convinced the head unit is ready I'll install the lux amp.
Just doing this a piece at a time.
TheBac 11-11-2006, 07:31 PM IIRC, when it comes to the EQ settings, that is all stored in the amp's processor. Again, IIRC, the headunit only acts as an interface in this case.
As long as the Tech said that all the LUX progamming was successfully loaded, go ahead and install the amp.

Tom is correct. I verified that when I did my UC6/Lux upgrade. Did the reprogram on the head unit and then checked functions before I plugged in the amp. No eq. Plugged in the amp and had the 4 eq settings. DSP is in the amp not the head unit.
med8921 11-11-2006, 08:18 PM Great - That is what I was hoping to hear.....I was looking for the affirmation before the amp was installed which was wrong. So it was good in the first place. ):h Thanks!
TheBac 11-11-2006, 09:52 PM Thats what we're all here for....glad to help.
TwoFast4Lv 11-13-2006, 12:57 AM I have been following alot of these threads. Going to be one of my spring upgrades. Going to keep the UC6 for now and install the LUX amp.
The info. I have got from the people here has been great!
med8921 11-14-2006, 05:36 PM Success!
This place can mark another in the win column. I did the wireing last evening about 3 hours picking at the connectors (mostly) and that was it. Soldered a couple of connections hooked up the bus to RSA. Programmed the radio and amp and Great Sound.
Thanks to Tom and Ben and all the others that answered my questions.
