Just installed the MBRP exhaust today. First off, the kit was easy to install. All I had to do was remove the right rear shock and whaalaa. The OEM stuff was on the ground. I also removed my CatCon and replaced it with the intermediate pipe. Align and tighten everything up. Start the truck up and my dad, who's standing next to the exhaust, says, "It sounds like a vacuum cleaner. It's Hissing." I walk to the back of the truck and sure nuf its got a hissing sound to it. Dad raps the throttle and it instantly goes away only to come back when the truck settles back to idle.
Other than this small detail, I love the exhaust. Response is greatly improved and the sound under acceleration is music to the ears. Oh and the off throttle turbo sound is bad a$$ too.
Should I be worried? Has anybody else had this problem? Will it go away with a little time?
Rich.

bigblockquad,
Morning gald you got it installed, it really is easy on the Duramaxes! The hissing is the turbo on the LLY's the LB7's won't do it as they have the older style turbo. We get the same sound from the 6.0 Ford's as they have a similiar turbo set up. They close the vanes down on start up kind of like an old fashioned heat riser used to do. It also makes it a little slower to cool off when you're ready to shut it down as well.

I figure I could get used to it. Hell, it's almost never at idle and when I'm on it she don't sound bad at all.............Did I mention the turbo sounds awsome.

P.S. smoked a guy for the first time ever today. Wasn't intentional just left a light hard and he was the second car back on the right. Looked in my rear mirror and he was rolling up the window at a feverish pace. Sorry to the guy in the Red Tercel if your out there.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

A programmer should be able to clear the code
