on the stock exhaust system where the downpipe bolts up to the pipe, is there a flange in there or not. i havent had the chance to lube those bolts up enough to get them loose to see and i want to cut out that piece for my 4" at work tommorrow. just curious.

In '94 GM added the soot trap/CAT with a 4 bolt flange.
The downpipe should be the first piece replaced and if you have it bent out at a local shop they don't have to put the CAT back,
although I do like the Idea of faking it up to look like it's there for emissions tests and/or inspections.

I took the simple(but costly) route and ordered '93 downpipes with no flange.
at $150 US each from bullydog.

I plan to go 4" in the near future and will find a shop to make(bend) it locally.

It's a metal exhaust gasket.
