Does anyone know what I can expect to pay for title and licensing fees for a new truck in Texas? I tried to find this info on the net and did not find anything. Thanks for your help! Edited by: Reineke

I bought mine used (pd approx. $28000) and pd the following taxes and fees: Ad valorem tax $65
State sales tax (6.25%) $1400
Documentary fee $50
Title applic. $33
License $45.60
Hope this helps. My truck is a 2001 2500HD.

Bought mine at James Wood in Decatur (highly recomend)

inventory tax 84.06

local tax 6.25%

license 86.31

title, registration, and inspection 49.75
[/list]

I did not pay document tax as mine was a GMS purchase

Thanks for looking these up for me guys! Is the state sales tax for these trucks a flat 6.25% across the board, or does it depend on the area? I was figuring that normal state sales tax (8.25%) would be charged, but then I heard different.... 2 months and 3 days before ordering...I can't wait!

It's 6.25% state-wide as far as I know.

Remember, if you are trading in a vehicle you are not taxed on that ammount.

For instance if you bought a 40K truck, but your trade-in was worth 10K, you are taxed on 30K. If you dont do a trade-in and take your old car to say CarMax (VERY good idea to try) then you will be taxed on the full 40K. Now, what you have to do is see how much CarMax(or other party) is offering and see if it covers the cost of the extra taxes and then some. I have let them buy a few cars from me, and still walked away with a few thousand on top of the taxes that I incured.
