For those of you that have them, what are you averaging on your pyrometer with an empty truck. I put mine in post turbo, and I average around 550-750 empty up hills and around town in an '02 CCLB Dually D/A.

Thanks!

PS the 'hills' were 6-7% grades on I70 http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

I'm running about the same temps anywhere between 600 & 800 pre turbo.

That sounds about right but if I would coast or go down a long grade the temps will drop to 300 or so.

I have noticed that I will back down to 250 or so if I coast for a while downhill.

Going down a long downhill grade I have seen temps of 150 degrees and that is lower than it will go if you just set and idle. I guess the intercooler must be working.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Just pulled my 14000# 5th wheel to Yellowstone and back (to San Antonio) and saw temps average 750 -850 on semi level runs. Max was 1370 for a moment (wasn't paying attention). Had to back off sometimes on big grades to keep temps below 1275 (my personal guideline). Using Juice level II with banks exhaust. Temps would drop to 250 - 300 on downhill runs. Got average of 12.1 mpg for total trip. Not much time without the trailer hooked up. Satisfied with that. Truck pulled strong and rarely had problem keeping it between 65 and 70 mph.

You all seem to have lower temps than what I'm getting. Mine is around 850 @ 70mph on level ground, will see 950-1000 on a decent grade when empty. This is level 4/4 on the J/A. When towing on 1/1 about 10,000lbs will run close to 1000 level ground and up to 1100-1250 on decent grades. Never have a problem with OD locked out though - will usually stay 1150 up hills then.

This is in mostly 95 degree weather, no humidity (like 7%).

My truck runs stock up to 1000 degrees, sometines even 1100 with juice 4" exaust and afe intake. I can hit 1400/1450 is that bad or is my sensor in a different place than yours. when i installed my sensor it is in the passenger side exaust manifold for the edge with attitude and in the drivers side for the autometer guage on the pliier. i have both sets of guages autometer mounted on the piller and the edge attitude in the overhead cubby hole. A sweet set-up. please give me some feedback i am wondering if i am running mine to hard or if it is just the sensor is in the wrong location. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif

My EGT's vary day by day... I run Juice/Attitude Level 3/Low Boost Level 1. At 65 or 70 I usually run between 600 and 700 degrees, depending on the day. That is with stock intake and exhaust. When I get on it for a long period of time I get over 1000, but not usually. Lately I've been driving like an old man though (I'm 22)http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif EGT's usually top out around 800-850.

So both are pre turbo? There are quite alot of guys here who advise not to run over 1275-1300. IHI advises a max of about 1325 pre turbo temp so as not to melt it. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

I run 600-750 post turbo empty and no more than 900-950 pulling my car on a car hauler up steep hills at 70-75 mph.
