I'm installing a brake controller on my new suburban, and i'm wondering where you all taped into the cold side of the brake switch. I'd just splice it, but the steering colum has to be dropped to get to the switch, aka lots of work.

1. There is enough room up their to get one of those blue connectors in there correctly, just pull on the wires a little to give you some access.
2. To get the brake switch off, remove the clip on the brake lever, push up on the back side of the brake switch to dislocate it from the brake booster shaft and pull the lever and switch towards the pass side to remove the switch. Then pull the switch downward to tap the wire.:)

Thanks guys! :ro)
It was sunny when i looked today so it was hard to see under the dash, so I'll have to go out and look again tonight when it's easier to see under the dash.
It didn't look like there was enough room to remove that switch, but i'll give it a try. I don't have real big hands, but it was a tight fit just getting one hand up there.

Ok, so much easier without all the ambient light. I was able to fish the harness down far enough to unplug it without removing the switch, so much easier. The connector was a 6 pin square with the following wireing.
2 green
2 brown
1 orange
1 purple
1 green/white
and 1 white, that was spliced about 3" from the harness connector with 4 other white wires. It was wrapped in the nastiest tape i've ever messed with. It was like mastic coated duct tape. I've washed my hands twice with fast orange and my fingers are still sticky.
It looks like a factory splice, so i'm just going to put a butt splice right there with a pigtail for the controller, and finish it off with some adhesive lined heat shrink.
