My indicator in the cab reads 60 sitting still and 120 mph at about 55 mph. Is there a problem with these or am I just the lucky one with the problem? Are they cable driven like the older ones or electronic?

They are electronic and they are problematic. Some say that you can cycle the key several times to get it working again, but the fix is going to be replacing the cluster.

This may help: http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=97155&highlight=bad+speedometer

Went by the dealer and it is not covered except by the exyended warranty which I don't have. It will cost somewhere between $300 - $500 with labor.

Check with the vendors here. At least one of them has cool aftermarket ones cheaper.:)

I have a question for those of you that are changing out your clusters. How are you updating the mileage in the cluster or are you doing that at all?

How does the stealer not cover this under the normal 3yr/36K mile warranty unless you are beyond the 36K miles. Am I missing something here?

I had the place that programs the clusters for GM program the proper mileage into mine. They take your stock cluster so you cant swap between the two.

Your local dealer should point you in the right direction. The closest one to where I live was 3hrs away. Cost was $75.
