My friend just put a indash DVD player in his truck and he wants to rewire it so that it will play the dvd while he is driving. The wire right now goes to the parking brake. when i took it off and put it on a body ground it would only work once, as if it has to be switched, when you turn the truck off and back on it will play the radio but no dvd. It says that you cannot watch DVDs while driving. but while its on and you take the wire off and put it back on then it works. It needs to be a switched ground. if that makes any sense to you. he wanted to just put a switch in line and flip it everytime he wanted to use it but i thought that there would have to be a different way to do it. Is there such thing as a switched ground. my thought is that they would all be always grounded because on the actual TV it only has one ground that is always grounded so that it can save your radio presets.
