Has anyone hooked up all 3 to their Nav radio yet? I think I can make it work, I've finally picked up a Sirius tuner. I'll post here if it works out.

Tony I assume you're going to put an inline switch with the data and audio wires on the XM tuner and Sirius, so when you flip the toggle it will flip flop between the XM tuner and Sirius??

only problem I can see is that when you flipped the switch, it would take at least 1 ignition cycle for it to "disconnect" from one DRR and "re-recognize" the 'other' DRR box. :confuzeld:

or is there another way to rig it?

Well the Axxess adapter just turns the power on and off to the xm. I plan on just putting a toggles switch after that to toggle the power to either the xm or the sirius.

It should work. I don't think you will need an ignition cycle. You don't need an ignition cycle to switch between IPOD and XM so I don't see why this would be any different.

I'll know for sure soon enough.

I finally got around to it today.

It works just as I thought it would. I now have Ipod, Sirius and XM.

It works flawlessly. Well other then the bugs that the Sirius but they were there before.

I now hold down the 6 button as usually to switch between satellite radio and the ipod and I use a toggle switch to switch between XM and Sirius. When you switch to XM it is almost instant but the Sirius take a bot longer to wake up.

In a perfect world it would be nice to have XM1 and XM2 switch between XM and Sirius but it's not going to happen.

Tony, can you post pics of where you put the switch?
What wire did you put the switch on?
Did you use the XM antenna for both services, or did you install a third antenna?
Where did you mount the Sirius unit?

I don't have the switch mounted yet. I'm looking for something nice. I don't know what yet.

I installed a third antenna but you could install an antenna switcher easily. I figure the new antennas are so small it's not really and issue. You don't even hardly see it on the roof.

The Sirius unit is mounted under the cup holder along with the Motorola Blue tooth and the axxess ipod. I need to clean it up a bit but there is quite a bit of spare room under there.

The only bad part about doing this is that it gets a big cluttered with all of those stupid plugs piggy backed. I might hardwire them all into 1 plug some day.

As for how I did it... The Axxess is first inline. Then the XM and then the sirius. The only thing that really matters is that the Axxess is first. The axxess switches power on and off to the XM using a relay. The switch simply either sends power to the xm or the sirius. It's that simple.

MP, once you get everything finalized can you post a DIY on this?

I pretty much explained it in the above post. I didn't take pictures of the install so I really can't off much as far as a DIY.

I'm more then willing to help anyone out who wants to do it and answer any questions.

If you didn't have the axxess it would be even easier.

thats awesome Tony!! I just assumed it wouldnt work because I know if I cut power to my CDX the radio wont recognize it again until I cycle the ignition 2 or 3 times. I guess the XM box is different?

I guess. If I shut power off to both it will skip right over XM1 and 2 and as soon as I put power to one XM1 and 2 are back.

I just purchased a Sirius system last week and would like to install it directly to the factory system and also like to have it set-up so that I can connect my iPod.

My first question is simply how difficult is it to remove the factory radio in order to do this install? Is there any sites that show this removal process? I would rather do it myself than pay someone to do it.

What sirius unit did you buy?

If yuo go with the USA-spec they have additional RCA inputs.

I recommend the SIR-GM1 for the nicest install.

Removing the factory radio is a piece of cake. Just remove the trim bezel then the 3 screws that hold the radio in. Then you just need to unplug the wiring harnesses from the rear.

Starmate 4 plug n plat. I want the option of moving this from vehicle to vehicle and to my RV.

Is the trim just popped on? Do you just stick a small screwdriver in there and pop it off? Sounds easy.

Just grab it with your hands. Why do you need behind the radio for the starmate?

The only way I can connect the FM Direct Adapter is by going through the back of the radio. I don't want to use the built in Wireless FM Transmitter. I want to go direct to the stereo.

I'm open to suggestions. I also want to be able to plug in my iPod.

You'll likely need adapters for the GM antenna.

If you go with the USA spec ipod adapter it will interface your ipod to you radion and has an extra input for the Sirius.

Still working great! I'm glad I did it now. Between the two you can find something to listen to half the time. :D

I'll be switching from XM to Sirius soon for NASCAR. My current set up is an aftermarket XM receiver that I move from my truck to wife's Jeep and to our houseboat. I have a "car kit" for all 3 with 3 antenna's.
This is complicated by planning to order a new body style 2500HD as soon as I can.
I think a similar set up for Sirius will work, but is there a better/cheaper way to accomplish this with 1 subscription?
