Noticed last weekend when pullin the 5ver that the 1- 2 shift was favored with a clunk/jerk big enough so that the dw noticed. It only show's up when towing, unloaded you don't feel it. It makes no differance it you pull out and giver http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif or pull out and grandma it the clunk/jerk is the same. Checked the driveshaft and all feels tight, no noticeabl "slop", truck has 47k on roginal parts. I do tow with juice on 3 and set to defuel all shifts, no high trans temp- 80 deg out w/ towing trans temp of 200 +/- @ 62 mph, new fluid and both filters @ 46k. Getting ready for a western trip in 2 1/2 wks and want to make sure of no prob's for the trip- "I told you so" is not a fun trip.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

Your probably seeing this because you change the power level down when towing. The TCM is expecting more power then it is getting so you feel clunks.

Max power- 90% of the time I run the juice in level 3, 5 without a suncoast I kinda thought was pushin it. Savin the green for the upgrade though. The trip was a 250 mile round trip and the whole time it was set in 3.

tow/haul mode when towing?

T/h unless forced to run 55 mph, truck won't find 5th untill 61 mph so I turn T/H off and let it shift into 5th- been that way from day 1.

It's the adaptive learn issue .... It will take 5 or 6 shifts at different throttle positions to settle down .... Since you added weight it will have to "relearn"
The 1-2 shift can be a bit jerky in some trucks nonetheless mine is but has been alot better with the Suncoast upgrade ....It has to do with throttle position and I use to be able to do it at will ...
My suggestion since you have a Attitude is when around town back the level down to zero and use the higher levels of power when climbing grades ...To smooth that gear exchange ...
Either that or get use to the bumps till it settles down ....

Mackin I've got to paritally disagree. I have the same problem it STARTED 100 miles from home after pulling for 1500 miles with no problem. Level 1 HJ tow/haul. It had done all the adaptive learning it was going to do on that trip. It does happen now when I hook up the trailer, but I help it along on the 1-2 shift with my right foot and generally avoid it. I do agree it is something with the electronics, and perhaps is the adaptive learning. It may be that the adaptive learning faslely kick it after 1500 miles?

To adaptive learn you will need to do something like 5/6 or more complete up shifts and downshifts, ditto when adding "tow" weight as APP will be different ,at different throttle positions ,at what ever power level, you have selected .... In Tow Haul and Non Tow Haul ....
As I said previously the 01 (mine in particular) would "occasionally" once fully adapted in 90 HP Juice would flip V1 clear off the dash and it would land on the back seat flying by me on a 1/2 up shift .... This would happen if I was out of the hole hard then soften my foot pressure on the GO peddle before the shift ...
Alot of trucks do this ...
It is so much better with the Suncoast stage V ...

Could this be related to the 2-1 shift update in the TCM programming? Worth looking into if it is almost immediately after takeoff.

Is there a way to tell about the TCM programming without going to the dealer?

I plan on haulin the 5ver around this weekend and will pay closer attention to the speed of the shift or if it only shifts 4x not 5x or if it starts out in 2 drops to 1 then up shifts right away, took it to the dealer today for a lok see at my "lope" at idle and asked about this and he said the same thing. Also told me to bring the truck by with the trailer and he'd go for a ride w/ the tec2 pluged in and see if anythig showed up.
