How hot should the ZF/6 transmission get? I noticed today after coming home from the store, probably 20 miles total miles of driving with stops, that the tranny was nearly too hot to the touch. That seems way too hot. The transfer case was not even warm to the touch. Can anyone tell me if this is normal? Perhaps I am paranoid, but this seems pretty hot. I know my clutch is about ready to give out, maybe that is causing the tranny to heat up. Before I jumped to conclusions I just wanted to see if anyone had experienced that or whether it was just normal.

it is very normal. My steeler had to put a trany cooler on mine to keep the clutch fluid from boiling out. Ford puts a cooler on from the factory.
