: Clock Resetting to 12:00
mcrumpton 07-11-2004, 01:10 AM My clock has reset to 12:00 about a half a dozen times over the last 2 months when I restart my engine, all fuses appear to be fine. Any ideas or problems known about, I have the am/fm/xm bose 6 cd radio, preprogrammed stations are not wiped out and no other problems noted. Thanks for the help! Edited by: mcrumpton
blakeb 07-11-2004, 04:38 AM Mine is doing this too. I can not seem to figure it out.
02B12S 07-11-2004, 09:15 AM Same here, has reset three times in the last month.. interesting, the buttons still remember the stations they were set to... I'm assuming the clock is getting reset by voltage spike..
JJ
I think they replace your radio for that problem.
Burner 07-11-2004, 10:55 PM I think Hoot is correct on that. When I had my 2000 they replaced the radio because of the "12:00" resetting problem. Whe I got my 01' the radio had "shorts" and they replcaed it, twice. I got my 02' and it had the same problem....... replaced the radio. Ok, now it gets weird....... My 03 has had 2 or three radios replaced. I dropped it off the last time and did not care what they did to it. I just wanted the damm thing fixed.
....... and now my "XM" has resetting problems all the time. As long as I don't call... it will fix it's self in 1 to 4 hours..... if I call XM it won't work for 1/2 day or worse. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif

biggar 07-12-2004, 04:26 PM I think I have some of these problems.
I sometimes find the station memories have changed, and (or) the clock is way off.
I'll keep a closer eye on it (wife is the primary driver) and see what the deal is.

blakeb 07-12-2004, 04:28 PM Biggar, The Station memories change with the driver 1 and driver 2 pos. Different presets for each.
biggar 07-12-2004, 05:35 PM Thanks. I'll check all that out.

JUSTIFIED HD 07-12-2004, 06:40 PM Me too on this, I thought I would be the only one. I wonder if they'll replace the radio for this. Mine too is XM/6 disc
mcrumpton 07-12-2004, 07:49 PM I am not going in for service for a few weeks but when I do I'll check to see what they will do to remedy the situation. Really strange - no rhyme or reason.. http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gifthanks for the replies, it happens so infrequentlyhttp://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif that its hard to put a reason behind
Burner 07-12-2004, 08:29 PM I would say that 30% of the time or better my XM station reverts back to CH 1, the preview station, when restarting my truck. All I do is press one of my presets or use the steering wheel function and it returns.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif ....eh, most of the time.
BTW..... once you use credit card "A" the system will try to use card "A" all the time, even when you call them. I cancelled the card I used on my two trucks and "switched" to another card...which they can never find. It's like they never delete information...makes ya wonder. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif
the "gadgets" are nice when they work and (lack of a better word) upsetting when they don't.

95geo 07-14-2004, 07:56 AM i had a problem with the radio when the truck had about 500 miles on it, it went off in the morning drive and still nothing on the way home, checked the fuses and they looked good, put the old one back in and nothing... replaced it with another and its been fine since
freddyo 07-16-2004, 03:39 AM Following major power supply surgery last week (moving batteries to between the frame rails), my clock started resetting (just about the same time as this topic popped up). (fast forward) I used a 2x0 cable to ground the engine to the frame and it seems that my problem has disappeared.
Given my unique configuration, my solution may not be yours. My batteries are grounded to the frame w/4x0 cable. Most assuredly, though, your problem lies in either an inadequate power supply or inadequate ground. In my case, my diagnosis is that the starter was "using up" the available engine-to-battery ground capacity thereby lowering the potential difference between the radio and its available ground to something less than 12 volts. GM has a habit of skimping on wire size.
I had my Radio replaced (w/ 1700 miles) on July 6, 2004 for a skipping CD problem;
Last Saturday I noticed the clock was off by several hours. Reset and no problem. Everything functioned.
Last night, the radio would not work except for AM with manual tuning and the clock was simply counting up and down non-stop. No pre-sets, no FM, no CD (and CD in the unit would not eject).
This morning, no AM or FM but the CD worked, but could not eject the CD. Clock is still simply counting up and down.
Dealer said it must be "possessed".
Goes in on Monday.
Bizarre.
baimpala 07-16-2004, 09:44 AM joeg,
Sounds like a virus. . . is nothing sacred from computer hackers anymore? Seriously though, sounds like a defective radio to me. . . take it back to the dealer and tell them that although it may be possessed, it doesn't belong in your truck.
Dennis
Will do, Dennis.
I suspect it's bad because when it was installed it worked correctly.
h8pvmnt 07-17-2004, 01:31 AM I had this problem from the get go, the dealer did the software update last week and so far it is fixed.
