From the installation instruction on the wastegate i only had 16 pds of boost. bumped it up to 24, runs alot better but still not impressed. Did i do something wrong??????</TD></TR>

chaps 07-11-2004, 01:33 AM Check for codes flashing from the six-gun and try your initiation of the speed-loader again. Someone had posted the sequence that banks said was sure to work (I guess there were a couple different sequences noted in the past). Re-doing the sequence for the S/L made a big difference and I left the dash panel off to watch for codes the first couple weeks. My install went smooth and the power increase was very impressive. I would look it all over and if your still not satisfied give banks a call, they have always been very helpful from my experience.

According to instructions if the green led flashes twice and stay lit on initial power up it accepted the programming. What do you guys consider a safe, but aggressive boost, right now im at 24. What i need to do is run it against another one and see what happens. By the way im a newbie, and so far thanks for the imput.</TD></TR>

GMC-2002-Dmax 07-11-2004, 08:30 PM I see 28-30 with just a HOT OJ-Non Attitude box.........
Try adjusting your BIG HEAD waste gate or put the stock one back on.

blowin smoke 07-12-2004, 03:55 PM I see 27-30 depending on how hard I am ripping. BTW i just ordered the Bank Bighead Wastegate Acut. So let me know how it works out before i put mine on.
Scotty Seelen 07-12-2004, 04:34 PM Baddmax396,
Do you have the 1st version or the 2nd version of the 6-gun? There's a night and day difference.....
BADDMAX396 07-13-2004, 12:21 PM The big head seem good, but the instructions say to make it fit and then tighted five turns. I'm on nine turns to get 24ish pds of boost. I put everything in at once so i dont know if the actuator made any difference or not. Called banks yesterday and the guy said to check part numbers old being 62956 and new being 62967. I checked and i have the old one. Dont make any sense seings when i ordered it took two weeks to ship because they said they needed to flash all the old ones before they sell them.
grasshopper 07-13-2004, 01:20 PM we have two trucks here with the big head on them, we have them set at 10 turns on one truck and 11 on the other. and we are seeing between 32 and 34lbs of boost very consistently!!!
GMC2500HD 07-13-2004, 01:39 PM Ya but what is the point of no return?
grasshopper 07-13-2004, 01:50 PM I have no idea to tell you the truth, I was just sayin, that is how our trucks work the best! and that is how we have them adjusted to get those levels!
GMC2500HD 07-13-2004, 03:44 PM Well that is interesting in itself, but someone needs to get up the nuts to find out. Someone has to know something out there. I have a Banks wastegate sitting on my bench in the garage, going to do my install with everything all at the same time so it would be nice to know. Anyone, Bueller?
grasshopper 07-13-2004, 03:57 PM Call Banks and ask!!! That would be the easiest I think!
sdaver 07-13-2004, 04:10 PM 33 seems to be the limit.........destruction is emminent after that.......I have seen 40 plus but would not do it againEdited by: sdaver
grasshopper 07-13-2004, 04:19 PM 33 seems to be the limit.........destruction is emminent after that.......I have seen 40 plus but would not do it again
Hahahahahaha, whats wrong with 40lbs of boost, I thought that was good for the turbo?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif
heartbeatcanada 07-13-2004, 04:26 PM Give me a couple of weeks and we'll see what the stocker can handle. I've been running for close to 2 months now at 34-35 lbs on a wot and it stays pretty constant. I have seen over 40lbs and had to pull over and change my shorts, ran out of underwear so i didn't try it again. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif
BADDMAX396 07-14-2004, 02:25 PM Is there a limit on how far you can go, reason being to tightened it 2 more turns and gained nothing as far as boost. Even seems as if i lost some performance at taller gears.???? By the way i talked to banks again and they said to check throttle values. At wot there should be 3.5 volts at the dark blue wire, top right of connector at pedal. I was only getting 2.6 volts due to the carpet and padding underneath. The system was not seeing wot. A little bending and shimming got me wot.
grasshopper 07-14-2004, 04:24 PM 3.5 volts is kinda high? I think? for a dmax anyway!
moss022 07-15-2004, 09:28 PM you guys seeing 30+ lbs of boost, are you getting those numbers on the hose going to the wastegate or someweres else. my edge tells me i max out at 25.6 everytime, but i am assuming that is the mainifold pressure
Amric 07-15-2004, 10:53 PM Mine reads 32psi peak at the hose going to the wastegate. 28-30psi average in the lower gears.
