I'm thinking about putting my hypertech to level 3, but I had a few questions. Is that level safe...it seems to add about 87 hp and 173 lb ft of torque. Is that amount safe for the stock allison. I know its known to be safer than most tuners, but those increases seem to be pushing it. Also do I need gauges if I'm not towing on this level.
Thanks

So far so good on my truck, 13k miles with the Hypertech with most of that on level III...couldn't be happier with it..

Installed mine last week. I went with the HyperPac because it seemed to be safer when towing (over other tuners). I have a 12K, dry weight, 5th wheel that I tow through the mountains. I don't think you will have issues on level 3. I will not be towing until next Spring because winter has set in here in Alaska but from everything I have read I should be fine. I would go for it.

hypertech is the most safe of all the tuners. That being said i ran hypertech for about 18000 miles with no worries, most of which was on level 3. It would break loose in some 2nd and 3rd shifts. The reason I went to pred. was the fact I could raise speed limiter, and have more dia. than the hypertech. But you get curious and I put the pred. on 100... limped the tranny. In short if you want fun safe towing power... Hypertech

I bet you will be fine on level three. You probably DonT need guages, but it wouldnt be the worst idea to get them either. With just the hypertech on 3 i have hit about 1200 degrees (egt). but thats about as high as i have seen. I was not towing though.

Highest I've seen was 1250 while pulling about 8-9000 lbs up and down interstate mountains. I wouldnt worry about it. I've got 55,000 miles on my truck and about 50,000 were on level 3.
