Hey guys,
I finally got my truck back from the suspension shop after grenading my tie rod. After doing it I had to come out of a friends driveway in 4 wheel drive(steep drive way). Anyway, while going down the road I clicked 2wd and it felt funny for a while. So I got in a parking lot and stuck it in 4hi and started turning a circle, it was definelty in 4hi, so I clicked 2hi and it didnt come out right away. It felt like it took it a bit to come out of 4hi. Is this normal or did I grenade something else?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Dead.gifEdited by: dieselboostfreak

It sounds like your actuator for the 4WD just took a little longer to disengage as you probably had some tension in your front end from turning circles in 4WD.
This sounds very close to what my 2000 Z71 did with the electronic transfer case. I wouldn't worry, but someone else may have different opinion.
As for the funny feeling in 2WD, don't forget that your truck will handle differently in 4WD as in 2WD, your front end will grab alot more in 4WD so you'll feel more too.

I dont know if its normal, but when I go from 4Hi to 2WD it always takes a few moments to disengage. This is since the truck was brand new so I assumed it was normal...

Some take longer than others. I know mine comes out pretty quick. I know my last truck it took some time to get it to come out of 4wd.

Sounds like torque bind on drive line. Next time it does that, stop and back up 10 or 15 feet and I will bet it will pop out. If you have big tires and tall gears it places more torque on drive line and it can aggrevate the problem.

I've found that changing from 2WD to 4WD or vice versa is easier when I'm traveling in a straight line. Seems like it's easier on the components, too, since there's less tension on them.
I tried shifting from 2WD to 4HI in the middle of a u-turn (I was planning to stuff it after the turn and wanted to have maximum traction). I heard a god-awful sound and it didn't engage. Thought I might have broken something. So now I just make transitions while going straight.
