I recently installed the high idle pin in my 05 and in the process i broke one side of the blue locking pin on the ecm connector. Just wondering if anyone knows the part # of this or if i am looking at replacing the whole connector. Thanks for any help.

i did the same thing the FIRST time i tried to install highidle. you can push it out from the other side, so it doesn't really make a difference IIRC.

good luck, but i highly doubt you're going to be able to that part unless you steal it from another truck.

how'd the install go? i got the kit coming to me on the 6th and i'm going to give it another shot. my biggest problem was getting the pin to go into the connector fully.

How come you had to do the high idle kit my truck came stock with high idle kit?

it comes with automatic high idle, when IATs are below 32F and ECTs are below 150F IIRC.

this is for manual high idle. it can be turned on, ramped up to a couple different levels, whenever you would like.

Where do you get the kit from?
Thanks..

The install went pretty good apart from breaking that part, I read the instructions off this site and they were great and straight forward. With the colder temps coming its is awesome having that faster warm up time.

I just went to my local dealer and asked for the high idle pin and had some spare wire laying around. In the DIY section there is an article on the install and i believe it has a part # for the pin

i got the 'kit' from eric @ gmdieseltech.com

i did the dealer run-around before i ordered it. they had a box with about a million of those things and after 2+hrs of matching them up to the picture on this website (brought my laptop) i just said to hell with it.

did you have any problems pushing the pin all the way into the connector? IIRC when i pushed a paperclip in there something was hanging up and wouldn't allow the pin to be pushed through without bending.

I did my efi live dsp2 switch and never had any problems installing the pin the worst part was getting the connector out of the ecm.

I'll find out tomorrow what the p/n is.

I can probably even get my hands on some fairly easily.

I'll let you know.

Awesome, that would be much appreciated if you can track down a part number...

Thanks

The part # will probably not help you at all. I tried a couple of dealers my shop deals with and the numbers don't come up. Here are the numbers though. 15356826 or 15356827

I haven't been able to get any of these yet. They're a little harder to get than I thought they would be but I will get my hands on some. I need one too because I broke one when I did the high idle mod.

FYI...I've been without one for almost a year now without a problem. I actually don't think it ever will be a problem.

It's a secondary lock which typically means the primary lock is in the connector housing. When you insert the contact into the housing, it locks in place.

I think the real reason for a secondary lock is for when the harness is being built. If all of the contacts aren't fully inserted in the housing the secondary lock won't slide in. If the contacts aren't fully inserted and locked in, they could push back when the connector is mated.

If you got the connector back together, plugged in and everything works, it probably won't ever be a problem.

So don't worry about it too much. I'll let you know as soon as I can get them.

I would suggest find a wreck duramax and get one off of that, Most of the time those locks only come with the complte harness.
