It's time for EFI :D and I need to know some specific's. V2 comes with a tuner that you download tunes to so it's portable right? What all are the advantages of V2 over V1? Is V2 compatable with LB7's and LLY's?

In my opinion, getting V-2 is the best bang for your buck at this point. V-1 will do both the LB7, and LLY. V-2 will do both LB7, and LLY, and in the near future it will do LBZ, and more then likely LMM. As you pointed out, V-2 can store your tunes, so you can change levels for testing without a laptop. (In fact you can store hundreds, or even thousands of tunes in V-2) V-1 does not allow you to do this. (You always need a computer of some type.) However, you can make the changes at home, or take the laptop with you. Laptops tend to breakdown a lot.

So I can do all my tuning in my house, then go test is with only the tuner right :D :D. I think that made my mind up right there. Since I don't own a laptop this would be very good.

The dsp 5 will be great, but it will still mean I'll need a laptop to tune it :(. The V1 is a lot cheaper, that's for sure. I'll definately upgrade to the dsp 5 so I can Censored with people and make them think I don't have enough, then eat them up ):h .

V2 is not designed to 'replace' the laptop part of the editiing, but, it just allows you to program the vehicle without needing to lug a laptop out to the truck.

Right,I understand, but the convience of leaving the computer at the house is a benefit. What do you think?

Or you can use the office computer to do the changes to the tunes, then on your way home, you can just make the changes with the hand held programmer (IE: Version-2 hardware!)
:D :ro)

Sounds cool, but my office is either my 4wheeler,tractor,or pickup as we have a ranch. Don't have one of those cushy jobs like all you guys :joke: . Just having fun with ya:lol:. Nice thought though.

V2 can do all the data loging as well? Or will a laptop still be required to do that?

How about commanding a specific gear for dynoing, can V2 still do this?

V2 is a stand alone logger, but you'll need to connect it to your computer to view them.

you can hold a gear with a TCM tune built specifically to do it. it would of course be one of those "do that at your own risk" kind of things

Well I need it to work simply cause I'm not a computer nut and I need more power,so the V2 sounds cool cause somebody else could create a tune for me,send it to me,and I can put it intu the tuner right?

V2 has the capacity to datalog with internal memory or with an SD memory card. A 512mg memory card has the capacity to log 24/7 for a full week and still have room for storing tunes.

You will still need a PC or laptop to view your logs and to make changes to your tunes. The difference with V2 is that you won't need to connect your vehicle to FlashScan AND a laptop - the flash will be standalone (although not in the first release).

As with V1, you can have people email you tunes. To use someone elses tune in your vehicle, you need to ensure that the file sent to you is compatible with your vehicle. Even when your Operating systems match, we recommend that you copy the tables/values you wish to change into a copy of your stock tune, then save and use to reflash to prevent mismatch between certain vehile options (ie. climate control)

Could you explain? The V2 that's out now will still require the use of a laptop and FlashScan? I need it so it's just FlashScan. That way I can have someone make tunes for me until I figure it out and I can just plug in and upload.

To modify a tune or to view your logged data, you will need a PC or laptop.

Picture the data you view within our software - the rotating 3D graphs, strip charts and the like and you will understand why you would need a PC to view/edit these. If you haven't already downloaded our software, I suggest you do, or just have a look at the graphical displays in the 1st post of the LBZ progress report thread.

If you just intend for someone else to do the tuning and email you files, you will still need to connect FlashScan V2 to the computer that your email tunes are sent to to physically move your emailed file to FlashScan. You are right in that once you have your tune in FlashScan, PC/Laptop requirements are optional.

Hope this helps.

That helps a lot. Except for that the download says it'll take 7hr with my dial-up.
