Here's the context: I've got a 2004.5 Silverado CC with the factory in-dash 6-disc changer. I opted for the overhead DVD player but the dealer offered to hook me up with a bigger screen unit, which they have installed down the street. The picture is great but they used an RF modulator to hook it into the factory sound system and kiddies' DVDs sound like crap when we are driving.
I have a harness from JP Customs, which promises to cure my woes allowing me to hook up the DVD player to a couple of auxiliary outputs and then having the outputs interface with the factory radio and the steering wheel controls.
It seems I regret it every time I have someone do some work for me. I guess I deserve it for being too lazy or too busy to take care of business myself. I refuse to take this back to the dealer and point out that the system as installed is sub-par quality (I've already had words with them about other things.). And I do not care to deal with an installer who should know better than to use an RF modulator.
So I want to do it myself: I will need to drop the headliner to see what I have up there and then trace the wires, I assume to the factory radio system, remove the cursed RF modulator and install the harness. I need help on dropping the headliner. It looks obvious, but I hesitate to remove all of those plastic pillar covers. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Question.gifIs that what I must do and does the headliner just pop into place? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Question.gifAnd the dash, anybody have any experience in getting at the factory radio?
Any help would be appreciated, please......http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif
