: camper mirror slides out
dmax650tq 11-04-2006, 04:06 PM I noticed that after driving a bit my driver's side camper mirror slides out about 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch. It is just enough to change the location of the mirrors and my view. Has anyone found this and corrected it? How is the mirror held in and is it something that can be tightened?
Thanks for the info.
ABQFirefighter 11-04-2006, 06:49 PM Ya know, I have the CIPA mirrors on my truck. I think they make the new style mirrors as well. My passenger mirror started doing that on my last trip. Hmmmm......
towdog333 11-04-2006, 06:56 PM Mine does it to, not sure what a fix would be
dmax650tq 11-04-2006, 08:11 PM I might try to take mine apart. I am not sure if it is a friction slide between the two pieces of plastic or something else. If I come up with anything, I will report back.

Let us know. Mine does it too.
Hafft 11-08-2006, 09:46 PM mine does it to, let us know
sthomasIV 11-08-2006, 11:08 PM Mine did it as well, dealer replaced drivers side and it still does it.......according to them no adjustment to tighten slides..........I thought mine did it while driving but found out it comes form shutting/slamming the door..........i.e. driver side moves more frequent due to me very rarely having a passenger...................my fix was to pull out mirror about 2" and dab bottom of top slide (so not to be noticed cosmetically) with hot glue gun (eraser to dime size) and push in................if I ever need to extend mirrors it will brake loose again and slide out..............hope this helps cause this was a very annoying problem for me
Mike Mac 11-09-2006, 12:47 AM If the tube is metal, you might try putting a C-clamp on it and crushing the tube slightly ovel. Just a tiny bit so there is more drag.
It's just friction. Don't lube the sliders and it's much better at holding position. If you have to, disassembly instructions are in the second link in my signature.
JIMPRU 02-06-2007, 08:09 PM Has anyone found a solution to this yet? Mine is doing it and while it is not that big of a deal it is annoying
JoshH 02-06-2007, 09:25 PM I took mine to the dealership and had it replaced under warranty. That fixed the problem for me.
Mine does it also. I can't imagine the mirrors being much tighter though, considering I almost break them pushing them back in after they ghave been fully extended.
Every few weeks I give them a nudge to re-seat them.
rox383 02-08-2007, 02:47 PM Yep. I agree just givem a nudge every once in a while to put them back in place(once a month or so). IMHO the mirrors are so large I can almost see last week in them, so for me the small movement outward doesn't really annoy me all that much or my line of sight even when towing my 20 ft trailer. I could see if they were slidin out a significant amount that would get on my nerves abit.
good luck with the fix!!
JoshH 02-08-2007, 06:49 PM Seriously fellas. My dealer replaced my drivers mirror and it hasn't moved out since. It wasn't really a big deal, but it was annoying.
put a self tapper in it.Just kiddin .mine do the same thing.
cuffnup 02-08-2007, 07:11 PM the drivers side mirror sliding out a little bit doesnt bother me as much as the passenger side shaking while i drive...
ibfarmerduramax 02-08-2007, 11:17 PM Mine did it also. I put a little of my sons pine tar (Baseball Sticky Stuff) on it and works fine. Mirror doesnt come out on its own and still can be pulled out with relative ease and no mess.
