I have a 93 2500 6.5TD and every hill I will loose overdrive and will not shift back in till I shut off the ignition and restart. Sometimes this will only work for a mile or so then I will loose overdrive again. Computer gives me code 68. Just rebuilt the trans to take care of this but it still does it. My truck has 4.10 gears so going 70 in third is about 3200. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated!

Was the torque convertor rebuilt at the same time?
That code would indicate the TC Clutch is slipping - could be low line pressure, or the clutch piston seals are leaking, or the clutch plate lining is shot.
Or the PCM is faulting.

Stator support bushings could be bad, oring on input shaft damaged or missing, or bad converter. Just some quick thoughts.

I've gotten this code from mine as well. Never happened until I tried the optic bump though:badidea: . I believe the problem with mine is the torque convertor is getting toasted. But it won't slip all the time though, only at select times when I really don't want it to. Temp has no effect on it, and towing heavy it seems to slip less. It only threw the code running empty and slips the most empty.
You may want to have your throttle position sensor checked out to make sure it is reading correctly since the ECM/TCM basis line pressure off of throttle position.

That was gonna be my thoughts as well. Check that TPS. Mine went south awhile back and had the similar symtoms.

Not the tps. It tested ok. How do i check my converter to see if it is working properly?

Anyone know a good place to get a converter?
