Finally ordered my AFE stage 2 after hearing that the
quality control issues had been addressed.
It got here yesterday and being sent back today, inside
of the intake pipe was rusty and missing half the powder
coating. Looked like I got one that had already been
returned! Sorry if I'm opening a sore subject just want
folks to be aware. AFE is sending me another one and I
know they'll make it right but for that kind of money we
should all expect a little quality control.

Good luck in finding a good tube. I still have two that I would send back if I ever get any return ship tags. These were sent to me to address the length issue, but problem was the new ones had terrible inside paint as you describe. I ended up cutting 1" of my original that had a fantastic paint job. I heard they are going to a composite tube.

Sounds like if the next ones finish isn't better I"ll
be getting the powder coat done myself in my choice of
color.Bet I check how it fits first! Composite would be
the way to go.Wouldn't have to worry about it down the
road.

I use a K&N FIPK composite tube with an AFE Proguard 7 filter. Nice combo in my opinion. No worries with flaking paint and rust.

How much did that cost Mac?
I checked mine last night....the power coat is still showing signs of holding up.
This problem does suck for the drivers that have to deal with it!

Recieved my second intake tube from AFE yesterday and
the finish is acceptable inside and out. It took little
over a hour to install with limited amount of curse words.
If I run into any finish problems down the road it will
get ceramic coated like Macs.....

I kept my original, cut an 1" off and then stripped it and repowder coated it red to match the truck. Thet powdering job sucked, so found another place and redid it gray. So far so good.
All this in 5 months time.

I believe it's 4" which is bigger then stock as it has a step up boot.
What's it worth to ya for the exact?

mac believe it or not right after i posted that i went out and measured it. intake to turbo is 3" id 3 5/8od so if i kept it same all through i would use 3" pvc tube, but i think i wanna find something bigger the piece of 3" i was playing with looks small...... i can use a 3"-4" boot and run 4" pvc but dont know yet im going to depot tomarrow. i one week till my tblazer gets painted, so i gotta have it done by then if i want it painted.

I made one up using 4" pvc. I still used the stock air box, since I have no other way of mounting the MAF meter. I went from 4" to 3.5" at the inlet, otherwise it's all 4". I didn't notice any gains, but I didn't think I would.
