: A new guy that needs help! BIG time.
nAsTy97SS 11-02-2006, 06:59 PM I have a 93 6.5 td, 4x4 automatic. The problem I am having is that the front driveshaft broke and got into the wiring harness for the trans and tcase. If this has ever happened to anyone before I'm sorry. I was just wanting to know or find out if there is a way to fix this problem. I have looked all over the place trying to find a harness, no luck. The truck still looks to good to just give up on. If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated.:help:
Thanks,
Dave
gmctd 11-02-2006, 07:30 PM Try a boneyard, or - the '94-95 and maybe later trans harness unplugs right behind the fuel filter.
Unplug it there and splice as much of the lower end as needed into your upper.
Wire colors match function thru OBDII
69camarox 11-02-2006, 07:40 PM i fixed one of those a few years back basicly the one i did riped the plug off the trans and then wound the wires around the driveshaft and then ripped them off the harness around the back of the intake . i priced the harness from gm lol they wanted like $3000 soooooooooo i got a wiring diagram and figured out where each wire went and spliced it all back together took around 5 hrs
nAsTy97SS 11-02-2006, 07:47 PM Are the trans and t.case wires the same from 93 to 94? If so, I have a harness out of a 94 that I can splice together. I thought just by looking the vss might be a little different.
Thanks,
Dave
lost with out spark plugs 11-02-2006, 08:12 PM is there a screw in the center of the plug at the left rear of the trans just above the pan? If so gm has a new style harness you would have to also the internal harness. it isnt that hard to change the inside harness and it would give you something to work with. if you dont have a screw in the you still can still buy the change over harness.
69camarox 11-02-2006, 08:16 PM does your truck use the rear speed sensor on the trans ? the 92 and 93 some of them used 2 output sensors one on trans and one on t-case 94 and newer only use one no t-case also 93 may have diffrent conector on trans 92-3 had a harness that bolted on with a torx bolt in center of plug unless your harness was updated most were. wiring for vss is seprate from trans and could be put in seprately
kimagine 11-02-2006, 09:51 PM does your truck use the rear speed sensor on the trans ? the 92 and 93 some of them used 2 output sensors one on trans and one on t-case 94 and newer only use one no t-case also 93 may have diffrent conector on trans 92-3 had a harness that bolted on with a torx bolt in center of plug unless your harness was updated most were. wiring for vss is seprate from trans and could be put in seprately
Not to jump in and throw things off, but mine is the 93 and it has the 2 speed sensors(front and rear for 1-2 & 3-4) and also the large harness with the screw/bolt in the center. Don't know if this helps or not but just figured I'd try.

gmctd 11-03-2006, 12:28 AM The 2wd uses the front and rear speed sensors on the 4L80E case
The 4wd uses the front sensor on the case, and a separate sensor in the transfer case, so that input is not effected by the t\c range
The speed sensors are two-wire, and not polarity sensitive.
The trans range-switch harness should be matched, pin for pin - colors should be same.
Same goes for the t\c harness
steelydan 11-03-2006, 10:41 AM I had a hard time finding a front driveshaft for mine when it broke.. took several weeks to locate a boneyard one. 4L80E in a 1500 apparently only occurs in Diesel version.
nAsTy97SS 11-03-2006, 03:18 PM Thanks guys! I guess tonight I might have my hands full trying to figure out wires. But it gives me something to do. No better way to spend a friday night.
Thanks,
Dave
Tracy 11-04-2006, 01:14 PM You probably have the old stlye plug, seems most 93's do or had from factory. They tend to leak and then have to be updated to the new stlye of eletrical connection. That means getting a updated version at a auto parts shop or trans shop. I think there around 100$(from GM its like 500$). You have to pull the trans pan and change the interal wires and electical plug and then cut the external wiring harness and splice in the new wires. Try these link to find the wire colors and what they do so on. http://www.atraonline.com/manuals/general/tetdv/tetdv-c3h.htm
nAsTy97SS 11-04-2006, 05:45 PM Does anyone know where I can get a complete engine and trans schematic for my 93? I would also like to have one for a 94.
Thanks,
Dave
