I've been looking around at tires and am really impressed by the Michelin XZL 16x9 military truck tires. These tires are rated for loads up to 3,750 pounds. They have four steel belts on the tread and one steel belt on the sidewall, and are 36.4 inches in diameter. They are tall, skinny, and heavy duty. Does anybody have them on a Chev/GMC truck? They look badass, and must be pretty near indestuctable.

The width and tread pattern look mighty squerly for high speed, anthing above 75. However, they do look really nice. I would like to see a performance test with these tires. ......... I wonder how explosion proof they are? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

I believe they are only rated for 60 or 65 mph service, great basin rovers and disco web have lots of Discovery's using them, they are supposed to be a great overall tire but, road noise, well...get your ear plugs out.

Yeah, the speed rating is a bummer. But for a big baja adventure, I think they would be great. What kind of lift do you think I'd need to stuff them under my truck?

Is traffic that bad in San Francisco that you want to drive over vehicles? I'm sure it could be done with those. Milage may be pretty crummy (tire wear) Depends on the hardness of the rubber compound.

With 36.4 inches in diameter I'd guess you should be able to run them with a 6" lift. That's a pretty tall tire, I don't think you'd get away without a lift, they're just too tall. My tires are only 34.6" diameter and I run 6" lift with cut out flares. They're on the verge of rubbing with this setup.

I have had Michelin on some of my trucks. I took them all off. F the French. I don't need to buy or use any of their stuff.

I have those tires on a Dodge M-37, 1953. I can't tell you how they are at high speeds since I can only get up to 42 mph, but I can tell you they will take you anywhere off road you want to go. They are not cheap.
