I have heard from a few different sorces that the Allison transmissions that we believe to be in our trucks, arent Allison's at all. That they are in fact Allison cases with GM parts inside. I guess i just need some closure on this issue. Does anyone know? Thanks for your answers in advance

GM owns Allison, so I guess GM parts would be inside.

This myth is as bad as Ford owning Cummins.
The 1000 and 2000 Series are indeed Allisons. They are design and built at the Allison facilities in Indianapolis and Baltimore. These transmissions are really just smaller versions of their 3000 and 4000 Series, which are used in medium and heavy-duty trucking.

GM(truck division) shared the cost of building the plants so they could get excusivity(sp)
GM does own Allison and Hybromatic so in a way yes they do have GM parts inside.
Just the rumor I read and heard at schools when they were being developed. It could all be smoke and mirrors for all I know :D

It's a Myth. Give the serial number to a Detroit Allison dealer and most likely the parts will be right on there shelves. From clutches to solenoids!
