Hey guys,

Yes, I am PISSED. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif I went to the local track to see how the truck was running below are my mods. My first launch was in 4 wheel high and it was on level 5 and the defuel was on. I ran a 9.30 spinning all 4. So I backed it down to level 3 and turned on, no defuel. Well, needless to say I had one hell of a launch. I left at about 2500 and built boost for a while and when it left it hopped twice severly and the passenger side wheel locked up and I pulled it all the way down the track. So, after a hefty tow bill, I looked up under the truck looking for anything I could and it looks as if it bent the sh*t out of my tie rod. I am HOPING thats all it did. I will find out tomorrow. Anybody else every done anything like this? Sorry for the whining, but just had to vent. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif

I seen this happen to 3 or 4 trucks in one day at a truck pull. This is very common while running it hard in 4 wheel drive.

2500 rpm is a perfect way to break things, even if it was not the tie-rods something else could break, that is a hell of a lot of torque.

Do you realize that at those rpm you are pulling about 700-800 ft lb torque? (depending on which Juice you have.)

Definitely do a forum search on drag strip racing your truck, as it's not as easy as some suggest to get a good elapsed time. Don't feel bad, there have been more than a few reported tie rod instances.

Gee, I wonder if it will be covered under warrantyhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clown.gif

Actually, I was by an Infiniti dealer. They had a G35 sport coupe up on the lift, taking the tranny out. The G35 Sport Coupe is the Infiniti version of a Nissan 350Z. I asked the service consultant about it, and he said that the owner races this car, and it was the second time the tranny was being changed......under warranty!!!

I couldn't believe it.

I launch at 2100rpm and all 4 of my tires "chirp". 2500 rpm was not a good move. The front end bouncing can trash more than your tie rods.

Cool. Lesson learned and the price wasn't too high http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

From what I can gather, our front ends are pretty solid except for the economy car tie rods.

As you fix it the loads simply break or bend the next weak link. The real problem is the soft bushings holding the upper and lower control arms. They allow too much movement. You control that and many other parts become less stressed.

All 4 wheels chirp? Do you have a locker in the front? What type are you using, I didn't see it in your sig.
