: I have some codes, please help
01Cummins 07-08-2004, 09:36 PM Ok, so the other day my 2004 Duramax started to shift hard, I mean hard. It grabs 2nd like my 70 chevelle with a shift kit. Then it wont shift up into another geer till the motor is near redline. Check engine light is on. I took it in and they gave me the codes (P0700, U1024,1026,1041, 1800,2104, 2106, 1152) Said it was a corroded ground at G110 for trans wiring.
I picked it up from the dealer and drove around a bit, light came back on. Same stuff is happening but now it dies, and doors lock when slowing and the ABS pump goes on when slowing like i am sliding when im not, hard to get the truck to stop when that is happening. Also I have the Edge with the atitude and I have the display on MPH and that stops working when all this takes place. Please help... Jason

01Cummins 07-09-2004, 11:23 PM Oringal problem is still there, now there are a few other problems that happen when it starts to shift hard. Seems to not be as bad if I unhook the juice or happen as often (as this is a problem that only happens if you drive more then a few miles). Not always bad, I wish it was maybe they could figure it out.. Thanks for your help.. Jason
NSBU switch can cause some strange things when it goes bad. Been driving in any deep water or very rainy conditions? G110 terminates on the frame under the drivers side in front of the door but it's unlikely that's where a connection problem might exist.Edited by: hoot
01Cummins 07-10-2004, 04:33 PM No deep water, never been off road. No rain here in california to drive around in. I reinstalled the juice the other night and there have been no more problems since. Im thinking one or more pins in the connector to the juice or motor plugs might be loose and or coming out. I will check today.
This is the 2nd Duramax I have owned. I had a 2002 Crew cab that I traded in for the 2004. My first truck only went to the shop one time. The only problem I had is the locker in the rearend broke and stayed locked (after a burn out showing off the juice power). I only have 7000 miles on this one and I have had a number of problems with it. I hope this will all be over soon. Thanks again.. Jason
01Cummins 07-13-2004, 12:18 AM Well,
Now my dealer tells me that I need to live with it for another week. This cant be good on my transmission or my motor. Redline shifts that slip for a few seconds unless its shifting out of first, then its hard and nasty. Now tonight I was backing up and the truck just stopped moving and motor reved. My tranny fluid looks and smells burnt. Doors keep locking, ABS still goes off when slowing. I can just see parts being wore out . What can I do here? This truck has been messed up for the last 2000 miles. Im scared that this might have an affect later on down the road. Please any advise will make me rest better... Thanks Jason
01Cummins 07-15-2004, 11:36 PM Ok,
I am done with GM products. This has to be the worst truck I have ever owned. After all the problems and the dealer not wanting my truck till next week, it is sitting in a parking lot and wont start now. When do I get any help from GM? This thing has some real problems and now is TOTTALLY unreliable. I spent a lot of money for a piece of crap, I just wish I didnt own this truck any longer. Jason
01Cummins 07-23-2004, 03:33 AM Update:
Took it in Monday july 19th and they had it till July 21st, told me the problem was the trailer brake control and the stereo amp. They wanted me to take it all out and drive for a week. Today (the 22nd) started the same thing all over again (everything unhooked and taken out) I drove to the dealer and took the tech for a ride. He said the truck should not be driven like this any longer and that there is a real problem. The service writer asked if I would like to bring it back on Monday the 26th. I said no I cant drive it anyways, they let it idle outside for a few hours and I walked away from the dealer. Still no rental and no call tonight to let me know what is up. I sure hope they finally shut it off tonight, but I wonder, im a bit worried. I will keep you posted. This is the 3rd time in the shop in the last month for the same thing, any suggestions? Jason
SpoolinTurbo 07-23-2004, 05:38 AM If I were in your position I would honestly see about bringing it to another dealer. GM warranty coverage straight up saved my ass when I was moving to alaska. Injector went about 1/2 way through the trip. Rental, new engine, no questions other than about my banks stickers on the topper. "I like his race truck" LOL
Hope you can get it resolved. Given that it's a warranty issue obviously, they should have given you a rental right then and there. Maybe a call to their district supervisor is in order.
Did you pull all your "toys" off it before you brought it in? when my engine went, on the side of the road after calling my insurance agency, I immediately pulled the chip and harness. Wife kept it in her backpack on her body and kept it with her until we got our rental and crossloaded it into the topper, and didn't leave a key for the topper with them. No reason to need to get into the bed when the trouble's all under the hood.
01Cummins 07-25-2004, 05:14 PM Dealer Called Friday 23rd and asked if I would like a rental. They told me that the TCM is bad and have a new one on the way. They are not sure if this is the problem, Im hoping it is. I let you all know if this was the right fix.. Thanks for the replys.. Jason
marcus 01-03-2005, 05:19 PM Dude, I had a Chevy Avalanche 2500 with the 8100 gas motor. They put 3 engines in it within 8000 miles. Finally I was able to get them to buy it back. Before it went to lemon law. You have to call GM and ride them hard on their customer service line. They offered me a 7 year 100k warranty and I told them no buy it back and I had to file with the state of Florida. Then they wanted to buy it back, and they did. I had to pay 22 cents per mile. What a relief. That was my last GM product and I though I would never get out of it. It had piston slap and sounded like a gas diesel. As a matter of fact when it was cold it was louder than my dodge. The worst thing was they could noot fix it by replacing engines. Then I bought the 2003 Dodge H.O. Diesel and I love it. It will run circles around that Chevy and pulls my boat so much better.
Good Luck.
I'm not trying to knockany of you die hard GM Guys. It was just the nightmare I had to go through
