I really haven't had time to play with the 06 too much but I know with the 04, I could get a lot more details with the trip function or am I crazy??

Seems to me with the 04, I could get miles, fuel used, and MPG on both trip settings and the 06 only shows miles driven??

Is this the case or do I need to push more buttons?

It was nice to be able to record these numbers when I was making a delivery to a customer but it seems with the new truck, I will have to reset the MPG for each trip??

Yes your new Dic is not as big as your old Dic.):h

Well that figures!!! I remember in the old days even when my truck had roll up windows and a rubber floor, it still had a light under the hood, one in the glove box, and tint at the top of the windshield! Heck, the 90s even brought the retractable hood light/trouble light. Guess the new trucks are SO good you don't need to look under ther hood at night!

Why on earth would they mess with the DIC or is it a matter of the new truck having Onstar and my 04 didn't??

Was nice to have a pretty close guess as to how much fuel I used on a delivery without re-setting the whole MPG thing!!

My 04 Onstar, XM and the DIC has all of the features.

Some beancounter decided that they could save 27 cents by circumcizing the DIC.

In comparing the '04 LT I had and the '06 LT3, besides reducing the DIC capabilities, they also reduced the 12 way power seats to a 10 way and the key fobs are no longer recognized for driver 1 and 2. Still have the 1 & 2 buttons on the door, but they do not remember as much as before, like radio settings.

They added a fuel filter lifetime countdown and high idle enable setting. Not sure I really needed those.

One useful addon was the 6 speed tranny over the previous 5. That was something I wanted on the previous truck for highway speeds.

Didn't find the pre-drilled holes in the lower dash for the Prodigy mounting this time. Am I the only one?

Sure do wonder why they made such silly cuts. I remember in the not so distance past for the same trim level you could always count on having what you had before, plus a few new extras or replacing something with an improved version. Seems the opposite is going on any more, at least for GM. Not entirely happy with this kind of trend.
